The Telegram channel "Archangel Spetsnaz" reported that on the evening of August 19 (local time), the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) tried to enter the village of Korenevo in Kursk, but ended up losing 3 armored fighting vehicles (AFV) and soldiers due to fire from Russian forces.

That same evening, Kiev troops destroyed the third and last remaining permanent bridge over the Seym River in Kursk. The destruction of the bridge is believed to be part of the AFU’s strategy to destabilize the defenses of Moscow’s forces and disrupt their logistical supply.

Earlier, on August 16, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Ukraine used a Western missile, possibly a US-made HIMARS missile, to destroy a bridge over the Seym River in the Glushkovo district.

Then on August 18, Russian officials said that a second bridge over the Seym River near the village of Zvannoe in the Kursk region used to evacuate civilians was also "damaged" by a US-made HIMARS missile.

The commander of the Ukrainian air force announced the destruction of a second bridge to limit the ability of the Russian army to reinforce, as Moscow is building up its forces to stop Kiev's advance in the Kursk region.

Russian military analyst Yuri Podolyaka also confirmed the information. Mr. Podolyaka said that Russian troops in the area are now completely dependent on pontoon bridges to support their operations. However, this expert believes that the Russian army is still capable of effectively preventing enemy attacks, especially in the context of local population evacuation.

According to the military news site Avia, in the Olgovka area, Ukrainian troops are facing serious difficulties as they try to advance through the village. Russian UAVs and drones have been actively tracking and attacking enemy ground forces. Despite the losses, AFU troops are still trying to gain a foothold in the area and advance further.

Sources say that in the Apanasovka direction, Ukrainian troops are still holding positions in a densely populated area, but their breakthrough attempts are being met with fierce resistance and strong Russian defenses, reinforced by counterattacks with artillery, anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) and FPVs.

The Russian Air Force also announced that it was successfully bombing large concentrations of AFU troops, causing serious damage to the enemy in terms of both manpower and equipment.

During the fighting in Kursk, the Russian side discovered that the AFU had deployed new units, including the 33rd Separate Assault Battalion and a battalion of the 54th Mechanized Brigade, to intensify the raid campaign and penetrate Moscow's defenses.
