The picture of Vietnamese music is the noblest mission of What remains forever
Since its first public debut in 2009, the concert "What Will Last Forever" took place at 2:00 p.m. on September 2 at the Opera House - the moment Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - and has become an indispensable spiritual food for music lovers on the occasion of National Day, September 2.

Honoring the diversity in the picture of Vietnamese music is the most noble mission of Dieu Con Mai during the 13 years of organization. There, instrumental works written for orchestra or a few musical instruments or vocal works that emphasize academic quality are introduced. More specifically, sometimes famous songs of the revolutionary song genre, lyrical song genre are "academized" in the form of luxurious chamber performances with high artistic value.
Since its inception, the National Concert “What remains forever” has always fulfilled its own mission, at the same time being a bridge to bring audiences to Vietnamese symphonic chamber music, helping to bring academic music closer to the domestic public. Through music, the program also arouses patriotism and national pride deep in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.
One of the significant innovations of What Remains Forever 2023 is that the organizers invited musician Tran Manh Hung to be the music director. He not only edited but also arranged, harmonized and orchestrated all the pieces played in the program. This created a unified musical script for this year's concert.
Musician Tran Manh Hung shared: ''This year's music takes symphonic music as the foundation but also needs to honor national values and not ignore the contemporary element. Saxophonist An Tran is one of the new elements this year. I hope that Dieu Con Mai 2023 will bring special and impressive emotions to classical music lovers in particular and Vietnamese music in general''.
For the first time, Dieu Con Mai will be conducted by Dong Quang Vinh - a young, talented conductor with many successes in conducting both vocal and instrumental music as well as traditional Vietnamese music.
Conductor Dong Quang Vinh.
Having had the opportunity to conduct many large and small symphony concerts, this is the first time conductor Dong Quang Vinh has participated in a special program on National Day.
''This year is the first time I have been able to perform live for a domestic audience as the conductor of Dieu Con Mai, I am extremely honored. I am very excited and looking forward to the program performing classic works and new works re-arranged by musician Tran Manh Hung - a brother in the profession whom I respect and love.
The previous shows have been excellent. This year there are many new features that require the efforts of many people. In just about two hours of the show, how can the performances be strung together to form a story?
With rich content about Vietnamese history and culture with Vietnamese spirit, Vietnamese dream and accurately conveying the message of love for the country, love for work and the strength of national unity. Looking towards the future in a reasonable way is not easy. But I believe in the enthusiasm of the production team will leave many deep impressions'' - conductor Dong Quang Vinh said.

The participation of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, the Kosmos Opera Choir and traditional and jazz instrument soloists, Meritorious Artist Le Giang playing the monochord, saxophone artist An Tran, and thunder drum artist Truong Thi Thu Ha, is also a way to introduce to the public talented artists of the country, aiming to direct Dieu Con Mai 2023 to a musical space that is both luxurious but still modern and traditional.
Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong - Production Director of the National Concert What Remains Forever 2023 said that he has organized many music programs but this is the first time he has participated in co-organizing a large-scale classical concert.
''I have followed Dieu con mai over the years and realized that this is a classical concert program with Vietnamese musical works that will last forever. This year, as production director, I and VietNamNet newspaper want to refresh the program but still maintain the basic parts of the classical concert by renewing the works for the orchestration of musician Tran Manh Hung.
