The works participating in the contest contribute to promoting the image of the country, people, and beautiful cultural traditions of the Vietnamese people to the international community.
More than 10,300 entries
On the evening of December 11, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Ministry of Information and Communications held the opening ceremony of the exhibition and announced the awards of the "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam 2024" photo and video contest. This is the second year the contest has been held online on the platform to promote Vietnam's image at https://vietnam.vn. Compared to 2023, the contest has had a strong spread when all 63 provinces and cities had authors participating. As a result, after 7 months of launching (from March 20, 2024 to October 15, 2024), the organizing committee received more than 10,300 photo and video entries. The contest was also widely promoted on social networks, targeting the overseas Vietnamese community and foreigners. Thanks to that, nearly 600 foreign authors and about 270 overseas Vietnamese authors registered for the contest. After many days of serious and impartial work, the Jury and Organizing Committee selected 60 videos and 150 photos to display at the exhibition, of which 34 best works were awarded prizes.A peaceful and beautiful Vietnam
Speaking at the award ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung stated that this is an important event to honor people across the country, overseas Vietnamese and international friends who apply digital technology to create photos and videos about the country and people of Vietnam. According to the Minister, more than 10,000 entries are thousands of stories about the peaceful, beautiful and happy Vietnam that have been recorded by the authors in photos and videos, from mountainous areas to urban areas, from the mainland to islands, from familiar things to heroic moments of the nation. Many authors have vivid perspectives, very close to the reality of life, reflecting the many aspects of the concept of happiness. Although the film is very short, the photos are taken by phone, the author still tells a vivid story about the life around him. "Digital technology helps people record, preserve and share the happy moments that they perceive. Happiness is a great thing but it is right inside us. Happiness is familiar and simple. But many times we have happiness but pass by it, forget it or we pass by without knowing it. The Happy Vietnam photo and video contest also conveys the message to save moments of joy and sadness but all towards a better life", the Minister emphasized. The contest is a testament to the spirit of love for the homeland, the enthusiasm of people across the country towards promoting the image of the country, people, and beautiful cultural traditions of our nation to the international community. At the same time, the contest also shows a new trend in social media work, based on the application of digital technology, digital platforms and mobilizing the strength of the entire population to develop digital data to serve information and propaganda work effectively. Many works are presented with a new, objective perspective on life, society and the development of the country and people of Vietnam, conveying the message of a happy, civilized and powerful Vietnam. Through the contest, the creative journey of the authors is also recreated, associated with the flow of life in the past year, connecting them with the characters they met and came into contact with, helping the authors have special journeys, meeting and honoring, spreading the images and values of special people. The authors come from many different professions, different ages, different ethnicities, different languages, using different devices, but all represent a peaceful, beautiful Vietnam, developing dynamically and being a happy country. Citing the World Happiness Report 2024 released on March 20, 2024, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that Vietnam is in the top 10 happiest countries or territories in Asia, holding the 54th position globally, up 11 places compared to 2023. In that journey of happiness, the people's contributions and the Happy Vietnam 2024 awards ceremony partly reflect those contributions. "This is a testament to the spreading power of the Happy Vietnam spirit, which has gone beyond the framework of a competition, a country, a region," the Minister stated. At the ceremony, the organizing committee awarded prizes to 34 best works in 2 categories of photos and videos, including 2 Gold medals, 4 Silver medals, 6 Bronze medals, 20 Encouragement prizes and 2 most voted works. Of which, the 2 highest prizes belonged to 2 works: Photo work "Sweet Happiness" by author Vu Dieu Hoa and video work "Gia Lai epic land" by author Nguyen Van Hoan.nguoiduatin.vn
