On February 21, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, and his delegation visited and congratulated Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day.
Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Quoc Dat reported to the delegation about the history of formation and activities of the school.
At the reception, Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Quoc Dat, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, reviewed the school's formation and development process, governance model... The school has 30 affiliated units... The teaching staff are leading experts with great influence on the health sector, trained in medical education, experienced in teaching and scientific research. The highly qualified teaching staff (professors, associate professors and doctors) account for 52%. The student/lecturer ratio is 10.31.
Regarding training, the school has 15 university training programs based on competency standards, achieving educational quality accreditation according to AUN-QA standards. The average employment rate of graduates each year is over 90%. In addition, the school has 25 master's training majors and 22 doctoral training majors.
For scientific research, the school focuses on 8 priority research areas in the science and technology development strategy including cancer, accidents, immunity, infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, neuroscience, aging, and medical education.
The school spends 8% of its tuition revenue on investment in science and technology activities and this investment increases every year. Financial support for scientific research activities for lecturers, staff, workers, trainees and students of the school is increased to a maximum of 1 billion VND/topic...

Speaking at the visit and congratulation, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia said he was very excited to visit and work with Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy. It can be said that this is one of the schools with a long history, traditional culture and resounding achievements.
The 77-year history of the school's formation and development shows the dedication of generations of staff, teachers, doctors and employees of the school to the medical training career of Vietnam in particular as well as participating in the responsibility towards the international community.

Human resources are priceless and endless," said Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, adding that Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, and applications in the health sector. "This is a very good foundation for building education and training centers and health care to ensure people's health," noted the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission.
