Regarding Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's illegal use of a high school diploma, on the morning of October 22, a representative of the University of Law said that in response to the request of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Hanoi Law University is carrying out legal procedures to cancel the results and revoke the diplomas granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet in accordance with the provisions of law.
"After the incident, Hanoi Law University held a meeting to review and evaluate the implementation of training regulations to continue improving the process, enhancing training quality and avoiding similar cases," added a representative of the Law University.
Meanwhile, a representative of Hanoi University said that the school is carrying out procedures to revoke the bachelor's degree in English from the distance learning program granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet.
Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, the Ministry of Education and Training said on the evening of October 21 that recently, the Ministry of Education and Training has reviewed the training process and coordinated with relevant agencies to verify Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's qualifications according to a thorough, careful process, in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The results determined that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet had illegally used his high school diploma and Mr. Vuong Tan Viet also admitted this.
The Ministry of Education and Training has requested relevant higher education institutions to urgently revoke the diploma granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet according to the law, and at the same time review the training organization process to avoid similar cases.
The representative of the Ministry of Education and Training also said that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet admitted to using illegal diplomas and voluntarily handed over the diplomas for handling according to regulations.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, on July 30, the department had a working session with the inspection team of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs to verify the educational background of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet.
During the working session, the Department of Education and Training coordinated with the inspection team to review all records including the list of candidates who graduated from supplementary high school and the list of names and scores of all candidates who took the exam on June 6, 1989.
At the end of the inspection process, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City confirmed the results of the review of the high school graduation exam records of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet, born in 1959, as follows:
Not on the list of candidates and the score sheet in the 1989 high school supplementary graduation exam of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.
Not on the list of high school diploma certificates awarded on June 6, 1989 by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.
It is known that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet has a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Foreign Languages, now Hanoi University; a second degree in law in the form of part-time study from Hanoi Law University. After that, Mr. Vuong Tan Viet was admitted to the Hanoi Law University for postgraduate study, and after more than 2 years of training, he was awarded a doctorate degree.
