The Ministry of Education and Training will recruit 77 candidates to study in China in 2024 under the agreement, an increase of 8 places compared to last year.
According to the Ministry’s announcement on November 17, the Chinese government provides scholarships from undergraduate to doctoral levels, including tuition, accommodation, health insurance, study materials and living expenses. The Vietnamese government provides round-trip airfare, passport and visa fees, travel expenses and a portion of living expenses.
Candidates submit their application documents in Vietnamese, Chinese/English before January 16 and February 15, 2024 respectively.
Master's and doctoral scholarships require applicants to have graduated from the previous level of study, and have worked at a state agency or educational institution for at least one year since graduation. New graduates (in 2023) must have a GPA of 8 or higher, have no recruitment decision or labor contract, and commit to returning to work after completing the course. Master's scholarship applicants must be no older than 35 years old, and doctoral scholarship applicants must be no older than 40 years old (no older than 35 years old for those graduating in 2023).
University scholarships are awarded to 12th grade students who have won prizes in international and national competitions and first-year students (full-time). Both require high school results at the time of application to be 7 or higher.
Regarding foreign languages, applicants must have a valid HSK certificate (International Chinese Language Test with 6 levels) at level 4 or higher, or a bachelor's or master's degree studied in China (if studying in Chinese). If applying to study in English, applicants must have a TOEFL ITP certificate of 500 points or IELTS 5.5 or higher (or equivalent), or a bachelor's or master's degree studied in English abroad.
If the candidate does not have a foreign language, he/she will be given a one-year preparatory language course in China and must pass the qualifying exam before entering the major.
