In 2021, she borrowed capital from Agribank and with her savings, she started building a Taiwanese guava farm on her family's land. Initially, due to limited capital and lack of experience, she tested planting 200 guava trees, with an area of more than 2,500 square meters.
Thanks to good care, the guava tree adapted to the local soil, after 8 months of planting, the guava tree bore fruit and had a harvest.

The guava farm is growing well, in 2023 Ms. Thuy invested in expanding the farm to 5,000m2, with more than 500 guava trees. Currently, in addition to growing Taiwanese pear guava, Ms. Thuy is also experimenting with growing queen guava, winter guava and producing additional guava leaf products to increase family income.
To keep the guava big and beautiful, not sunburned and to prevent fruit flies from eating it, when the fruit is about 5 days old, the grower uses a loose foam bag to wrap the inside and a plastic bag on the outside. Photo: TH
Currently, Ms. Thuy's guava farm is developing well. Every month, Ms. Thuy sells about 500kg of various guavas to the market.
Ms. Thuy's guava products are purchased "cleanly" by traders at each batch, with the selling price at the garden ranging from 35,000 - 45,000 VND/kg (depending on the time/type of guava). Every year, after deducting expenses, Ms. Thuy's family earns a profit of 300 - 400 million VND.
Ms. Thuy said that Taiwanese pear guava trees can be planted all year round but are best planted in the spring (February and March). The guava tree takes only about 8 months from planting to flowering, and about 2 to 2.5 months from flowering to harvest. Pear guava trees have the ability to grow strongly and withstand harsh weather conditions.

Pear guava is a variety originating from Taiwan, medium sized fruit, shiny green skin, soft flesh, sweet taste, sweeter than traditional guava. Pear guava is easy to grow, high yield, shorter harvest time than other guava varieties, the special thing is that this guava variety can be harvested all year round.
Thanks to scientific farming without using chemicals, guava products from Ms. Thuy's farm have affirmed their reputation and are strongly consumed in Da Nang city.

The tree is usually grown by cuttings, only then will the fruit be large. If grown from seed, the tree will usually produce fruit with many seeds and little flesh. After about 6-8 months of planting (depending on the soil), the guava tree will begin to yield fruit.
According to Ms. Thuy, to make the guava big and beautiful, not sunburned and protected from fruit flies, when the fruit is 5-7 days old, the grower must use a mesh bag to cover the outside. It is necessary to strictly follow organic farming methods to ensure clean guava, only then can it attract customers and have a stable output...
Looking at the guava farm full of fruit, few people know that to have the results like today, Ms. Thuy had to invest a lot of money and effort to be able to harvest "sweet fruit".

Ms. Thuy shared that many young women like her initially faced the most difficulties in starting a business, including capital and land for farming, because agricultural land is increasingly limited due to urbanization.
Not only is she good at making money for herself, Ms. Thuy also enthusiastically shares her experiences, supports farming techniques, and provides plant varieties to farmers when needed. In addition, Ms. Thuy's fruit farm also provides jobs for 3 local workers.
In addition to selling guava, Ms. Thuy also produces guava leaf tea to sell on the market, to increase her family's income. Photo: TH

"Although the fruit farm has only been established for more than 3 years, my family has a stable income. Life is now much better than before. I no longer have to struggle to pay for my two children's education. At this point, I can confidently say that I have successfully started a business with Taiwanese guava trees...", Ms. Thuy said excitedly.
Mr. Tran Van Duong - Vice Chairman of Hoa Phuoc Commune People's Committee said: In recent years, Hoa Phuoc has had many policies to support people in developing new economic models such as helping people access preferential capital sources; training in livestock and crop models; regularly coordinating with units to organize vocational training classes, thereby creating motivation for people to build economic models.
"Ms. Thuy's guava farm is one of the typical agricultural models of Hoa Phuoc commune in the startup movement. In the coming time, the commune will encourage the replication of effective agricultural models to increase income for people...", Mr. Duong emphasized.
