(CLO) On the afternoon of December 17, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize the 2024 Press and Propaganda Award Ceremony on Energy Saving and Efficiency.
The award is held annually to honor outstanding authors and works on energy saving and efficiency at the central and local levels. At the same time, it creates a useful playground for journalists writing about energy topics; promoting the improvement of the quantity and quality of propaganda works on energy saving and efficiency in the mass media.
Over the years, the Award has always attracted the attention of the press nationwide, with various types of press: print, electronic, radio, television at central and local press agencies. In the short time from its launch to receiving, synthesizing for preliminary and final judging... although the topic is highly specialized, many contents intersect with scientific knowledge, state management knowledge, the Award still receives the attention of press agencies nationwide with hundreds of works of various types of press submitted by journalists and collaborators.
This demonstrates the responsibility and interest of the press and the public in the Government's major policies and guidelines on energy saving, contributing to the success of this year's Award.

The works selected for the final round and considered for awards are typical works, reflecting honestly and vividly the results and achievements in the work of saving and using energy efficiently with many specific contents. In which, the works have promoted advanced models, good experiences, creative ways of doing things of localities, establishments, units, construction works; developing green works, green urban areas, research on using energy economically and efficiently.
Hot issues in the energy industry that are of concern to society include: green transformation, emission reduction, energy saving towards the Netzero 2050 target, capital concentration for green energy development and energy efficiency, energy auditing, electricity demand management, electricity load adjustment...
Journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association and Mr. Phan Toan Thang - Chief of Office of Vietnam Journalists Association presented the Special Prize to the representative of the group of authors.
Speaking at the award ceremony, journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, shared: What is new this year is that the works not only focus on analyzing mechanisms and policies on energy and large enterprises in energy consumption, but many propaganda works are presented in the form of easy-to-understand, easy-to-remember, moving stories about saving electricity, targeting a diverse audience from the elderly, children, to individual businesses.
The evaluation of the Jury shows that the overall quality of the entries is relatively even, the content of the entries is quite diverse, covering many topics in energy saving work. However, there is still a lack of in-depth critical articles reflecting the inadequacies and shortcomings in the energy sector.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh My - Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Dinh The Phuc - Member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) awarded the B prize to the authors.
"In particular, this year many non-specialized press agencies and local press have had many good articles, winning high awards. Some press agencies have a team of young reporters with works expressed in the form of long-form, e-magazine, data journalism, with rich content, which were well evaluated by the Judging Council," journalist Tran Trong Dung added.
The press award for promoting energy efficiency and conservation is one of the communication activities within the framework of the National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for the 2019-2030 period (VNEEP3 Program).
Mr. Dang Hai Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade and Editor-in-Chief of Industry and Trade Newspaper Nguyen Van Minh presented awards to the authors who won the C prize.
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, said: The works selected for the award are typical works, honestly and creatively reflecting the results and achievements of energy saving work.
The quantity and quality of this year's works show that press agencies have devoted considerable time through diverse forms and practical content to promote and encourage people to raise awareness of using energy economically and effectively.
Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Thu - Editor-in-Chief of Industry and Trade Magazine and Mr. Tran Thai Son, Director of Vietnam Journalists Association Electronic Information Portal presented awards to the authors.
The 2024 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Press Award was launched in April 2024. After more than 6 months of launching, the Organizing Committee has received active participation from units from the central to local levels with nearly 500 entries. The strong participation of press agencies, reporters and journalists shows the level of interest of the community, people and businesses in energy efficiency and conservation.
After a period of urgent and serious work, the Jury has upheld its sense of responsibility, judged fairly and objectively, and selected the best works through the preliminary and final rounds.
Journalist Tran Tien Duan, Editor-in-Chief of VietnamPlus E-newspaper and journalist Tran Lan Anh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper presented the Encouragement Prize to the authors.
The preliminary jury selected 47 works out of a total of 492 entries that qualified for the final round. The final jury selected 35 best works to award prizes with a total prize value of 273 million VND.
In the print newspaper category, the organizers selected 01 A Prize, 01 B Prize, 03 C Prizes and 02 Encouragement Prizes; Electronic Newspaper had: 01 A Prize, 03 B Prizes, 04 C Prizes and 05 Encouragement Prizes; Radio had: 01 A Prize, 02 B Prizes, 03 C Prizes, 01 Encouragement Prize; Television had: 01 Special Prize, 01 A Prize, 01 B Prize, 03 C Prizes, 02 Encouragement Prizes.
The Organizing Committee hopes that these awards will encourage and motivate journalists to further promote their resources to continue to actively contribute to the propaganda work to raise awareness among people, businesses, and state agencies in using energy economically and effectively, helping to change the awareness of the social community towards bringing Vietnam to the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
