Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phuong Hoang Kim, Director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: To promote the use of energy economically and efficiently throughout society, the Vietnamese Government has issued many related documents and policies, including the National Program on Energy Conservation and Efficiency for the period 2019 - 2030 approved by the Prime Minister on March 13, 2019. The program sets a target of achieving energy savings of 8 - 10% of total national energy consumption in the period from 2019 to 2030.
In order to contribute to the implementation of the above objectives, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has coordinated with relevant ministries, branches, localities and units to implement many drastic measures. Among them, communication and awareness raising are some of the important solutions that have been and are being strongly implemented.
The 2023 Energy Conservation and Efficiency Journalism Award is organized annually by the Office of the Energy Conservation Steering Committee, Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association, to promote and implement the National Program on Energy Conservation and Efficiency for the 2019-2030 period.
“The award is not only important for the implementation of the country’s socio-economic development policies, but also has practical significance for professional activities, improving the effectiveness of the press in social life. The strong participation of press agencies, reporters and journalists shows the level of interest of the community, people and businesses in using energy economically and efficiently” - Director of the Department Phuong Hoang Kim commented.
The 2023 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Press Award is of great significance not only for the implementation of the country's socio-economic development policies, but also for professional activities, improving the effectiveness of the press in social life. The strong participation of press agencies, reporters and journalists shows the level of interest of the community, people and businesses in energy efficiency and conservation.
Associate Professor, Dr. Journalist Do Thi Thu Hang - Head of the Professional Department of the Vietnam Journalists Association commented: Since the Award was launched, the Organizing Committee has received positive responses from central and local press agencies. The works submitted to the award have achieved high levels in both quantity and quality compared to last year.
After a period of urgent and serious work, the Jury has upheld its sense of responsibility, judged fairly and objectively, and selected the best works through the preliminary and final rounds.
The works selected for the preliminary and final rounds are typical works, honestly and creatively reflecting the results and achievements of energy saving work with many specific contents such as: Propagating advanced examples, good experiences, effective methods of localities, establishments, units, construction works, green building development, green urban areas, research on energy saving and efficiency... In addition, many works reflect the difficulties, challenges and orientations for energy saving and efficiency use nationwide in the coming time.
The Preliminary Council selected a total of 47 works out of a total of 366 works submitted to qualify for the Final Round. The Final Council selected the 35 best works to award prizes according to the following structure:
Print Newspaper category has: 01 A Prize, 02 B Prizes, 02 C Prizes and 02 Encouragement Prizes. Electronic Newspaper category has: 01 Special Prize, 01 A Prize, 02 B Prizes, 05 C Prizes and 03 Encouragement Prizes.
Radio category has: 01 A prize, 02 B prizes, 02 C prizes, 02 Encouragement prizes
Television category has: 01 A prize, 02 B prizes, 03 C prizes, 03 Encouragement prizes
Through the award, the Organizing Committee hopes that this will be a timely recognition of the contributions of journalists and press collaborators, a necessary source of spiritual encouragement for journalists and reporters at the grassroots level, helping journalists to further promote their resources to continue to actively contribute to the propaganda work to raise awareness of people, businesses, and state agencies in the use of energy economically and efficiently. Thereby contributing to the completion of the goals of the National Target Program on the use of energy economically and efficiently for the period 2019 - 2030, towards bringing Vietnam to the goal of carbon balance by the middle of the 21st century.
