Despite the heavy damage caused by the recent storm No. 3, livestock farming activities of people in Uong Bi City have gradually stabilized. Households have completed the repair of facilities, livestock barns and re-herded livestock.
Bac Son Ward is one of the localities in Uong Bi City that suffered heavy livestock losses after storm No. 3 with over 3,800 livestock and poultry killed. With the support of local authorities, units and businesses in terms of breeds, feed, biological products and care techniques, households have proactively repaired their barns and restored livestock farming. Currently, the total herd of livestock and poultry in the ward has recovered with over 26,000 animals of all kinds.
Ms. Dang Thi Thuy, group 20, zone 4, Bac Son ward, said: My family lost 600 chickens and the roof of the barn flew away, the total damage was about 100 million VND. Thanks to the attention of local authorities and departments, agencies, units, and businesses, my family was supported by CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company with 500 chickens, bran, biological products, disinfectants to restore the flock and instructions on care techniques, to soon restore production activities and stabilize the family economy.

Along with Bac Son, Vang Danh ward has 23 households raising livestock that suffered losses of over 5,000 livestock and poultry; many households had their barns collapsed, roofs blown off and damaged. After a period of efforts to restore production, the total livestock herd in the ward now has over 13,000 livestock and poultry including buffalo, cows, pigs, chickens, etc. The livestock herds are being cared for by households with technical assurance according to the instructions of veterinary staff, ensuring good growth and development. It is expected that by the end of the year, about 70 tons of various types of meat will be sold to the market.
Mr. Truong Van Luong's family, Mieu Than - Dong Bong area, Vang Danh ward, said: My family's chicken flock has increased from 400 chickens to 600 chickens, including native chickens and Tien Yen chickens. My family takes care of the chickens according to the instructions of veterinary staff, and vaccinates them regularly so that the chickens grow healthily. It is expected that by the end of this year, we can sell about 400 chickens weighing about 1 ton of meat, with a revenue of nearly 200 million VND.

During storm No. 3, 60 households raising livestock and poultry in Uong Bi City suffered heavy losses with a total of over 30,000 animals. Uong Bi City has issued 3 decisions to support the agricultural sector with about 2.26 billion VND including cultivation, livestock and aquaculture. With the support of breeding animals from units, businesses and the initiative of the people, up to now, the total herd of livestock and poultry in Uong Bi City has been maintained and developed stably again with over 1,200 buffaloes, nearly 1,300 cows, about 9,700 pigs and over 345,000 poultry.
Mr. Trieu Phi Long, Head of the Economic Department of Uong Bi City, said: Currently, the list of support for households suffering losses is publicly posted at cultural houses, and support will be provided after 30 days. In addition to the attention of all levels, sectors, and localities, in the face of difficulties and losses of the people, CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company has also supported people in Uong Bi City with 10,000 breeding chickens, 2.5 tons of animal feed and many biological products, creating conditions for households to restore production. Localities recommend that people pay attention to the need to select breeding chickens of clear origin, take good care of them, ensure adequate food and nutrition for the livestock and vaccinate them according to regulations. With careful care and technical assurance, the livestock and poultry herd is estimated to be exported to the market by the end of this year about 3,400 tons of meat of all kinds.
