Ho Chi Minh City launches measles vaccination campaign during September 2nd holiday

Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh City health sector will carry out a campaign to supplement measles vaccination to increase the rate of measles immunity in the community, contributing to protecting children in high-risk groups who will have serious complications when infected with measles (children with congenital diseases, chronic diseases such as cardiovascular, kidney, hematological diseases, children with immunodeficiency, etc.).

Priority groups for vaccination in this phase include: children from 1 to 5 years old living in the city, regardless of vaccination history, children in high-risk groups (from 6 to 16 years old) who are being examined and treated at hospitals regardless of vaccination history; children from 6 to 10 years old who have not received enough doses of vaccine, medical staff at risk of contact with people with measles, medical staff caring for children in high-risk groups who have not received or have not received enough measles-containing vaccines.

The campaign is being implemented at all health stations in wards, communes and towns in 22 districts and Thu Duc City. The vaccine used in this campaign is the measles-rubella vaccine (MR vaccine), purchased from the city budget.

It is expected that the health sector will launch a measles vaccination campaign from August 31 (Saturday) and organize vaccinations during the National Day holiday on September 2.
