According to MAUR, the relocation and felling of trees to serve the relocation of underground technical infrastructure of metro line 2 project will be divided into 2 phases.

In phase 1, some trees within the construction area of the technical infrastructure system will be cut down or relocated. Trees located on the existing sidewalk within the station area that do not affect the construction process will be temporarily retained to create shade for the route while waiting for the construction of the underground station.

It is expected that this work will be deployed in April and completed before July 31.

In phase 2, before the construction of the main station, all trees within the land acquisition boundary will be cut down or relocated. Trees not within the land acquisition boundary will have a protection plan.

Metro Line 2 Project (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) was approved by the City People's Committee in 2010 and approved for adjustment in 2019 with a total investment of more than VND 47,890 billion, using ODA loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the German Reconstruction Bank (KfW), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and counterpart funds from the budget.

The entire project is more than 11km long (of which the underground section is more than 9km long; the elevated section is nearly 2km long) with 10 stations (9 underground stations, 1 elevated station).

Previously, this line was expected to be completed in 2026, but due to many problems, it was extended to 2030.

Details of the plan for metro line 1 to be commercially operated in the fourth quarter of 2024. The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board has set the completion and commercial operation of metro line 1 in the fourth quarter of 2024.
