The city plans to launch fireworks at 16 locations, including 10 locations along the Saigon River, to celebrate the 49th anniversary of national reunification.
The content stated in the fireworks display plan on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024) was submitted by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports to the City People's Committee.

The Department of Culture and Sports proposed one high-altitude point at the beginning of the Saigon River tunnel (Thu Duc City) and 15 low-altitude points; the shooting time is from 9:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. on April 30; funding comes from socialized sources.
This is the first time the department has proposed to set off fireworks on the Saigon River at a scale of 10 locations including: Van Phuc urban area (Thu Duc City), Thanh Da park (Ward 27, Binh Thanh District), Rach Chiec bridge (Truong Tho ward, Thu Duc City), Thao Dien villa area (Thao Dien ward, Thu Duc City), Landmark 81 park (Ward 22, Binh Thanh District), Ba Son wharf and Bach Dang wharf (Ben Nghe ward, District 1), the area at the beginning of the Saigon River tunnel (Thu Duc City, high-altitude shooting point), Tan Thuan 1 bridge area (Ward 18, District 4), Thanh My Loi Ward riverside area (Thu Duc City).
Six low-altitude points in the riverside area in lot N4 - D6 of the Northwest Industrial Park (Cu Chi), the historical site of Nga Ba Giong (Hoc Mon), the revolutionary tradition site of the 1968 Mau Than Spring General Offensive and Uprising (Binh Chanh), Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11), District 7 administrative center, and Rung Sac Square (Can Gio).
Fireworks are set off in accordance with Decree 36/2009 of the Government. On the occasion of Lunar New Year's Eve and September 2nd, centrally-run cities and Thua Thien Hue will set off high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks; the remaining provinces will set off low-altitude fireworks; the duration will not exceed 15 minutes. Only Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will be allowed to set off fireworks on April 30th.
In addition, fireworks display occasions such as the establishment of provinces and centrally-run cities; national and international cultural, tourism and sports events; New Year's Day... are decided by the Prime Minister.
