Ho Chi Minh City wins 3 important categories at the world MICE tourism awards

On the evening of September 4, the World MICE Awards Ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City.

This is also the first time Ho Chi Minh City has hosted this prestigious award ceremony. This shows that Ho Chi Minh City is fully capable of meeting the requirements of modern infrastructure, combined with rich history and cultural diversity, to create an ideal location for international MICE tourism events.

Surpassing many strong candidates, Ho Chi Minh City has won the category of Asia's Leading MICE Destination for the 5th consecutive time.

At the award ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City was honored to receive the grand prize at the World MICE Awards 2024 when winning all three important categories: Asia's Best MICE Destination; Asia's Best Incentive Destination; and ITE HCMC (Vietnam) was honored as Asia's Best Trade Show.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that the City has identified MICE tourism as one of the four main types of tourism that must be strongly invested in and developed. This award is not only a testament to the ability and attractiveness of Ho Chi Minh City as a leading destination for the meetings, incentives, seminars and exhibitions (MICE) industry, but also strengthens the city's position in the international arena.

“The award is also a recognition of the efforts to build Ho Chi Minh City not only as a tourist destination but also to develop the city into a major tourist connection point in the Asian region, associated with the identity of sustainable tourism development, in harmony with cultural, social and environmental values,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa emphasized.

Ho Chi Minh City was honored to win 3 important categories at the world MICE tourism awards.

In addition to the award of “Asia’s Leading MICE Destination”, Ho Chi Minh City was also named in another important category, “Asia’s Leading Incentive Travel Destination”. This further affirms Ho Chi Minh City’s position in MICE tourism. However, it also requires Ho Chi Minh City to continue to improve quality, diversify, focus on typical products, destinations and tourism brands, promote demand and move towards sustainable tourism development.

Notably, this is also the first time ITE HCMC has been honored in the category of “Best Trade Show in Asia”. The award is significant in the context of ITE HCMC striving to become one of the most influential tourism fairs in Asia.

After 17 times of organization, ITE HCMC Fair has continuously innovated and improved the professionalism in organization. This further affirms the important role of trade promotion activities to expand the international tourist market to Vietnam, creating opportunities to promote and connect businesses around the world operating in the fields of aviation, hotels, travel, tour operators, tourism managers... that ITE HCMC Fair brings.

ITE HCMC 2024 will open on the morning of September 5, 2024 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, on September 3, 2024, in Manila (Philippines), the World Travel Awards honored Ho Chi Minh City as "Asia's Leading Business Travel Destination 2024"; Asia's Leading Festival & Event Destination 2024 and Asia's Leading City Tourist Board 2024.

The World MICE Awards are part of a series of awards developed from the World Travel Awards - a prestigious award recognized worldwide, described by The Wall Street Journal as "The Oscars of the tourism industry". Accordingly, the World MICE Awards is a global initiative to recognize and reward outstanding brands in the MICE industry. Up to now, after 05 years of organization, the World MICE Awards has expanded its scale worldwide with the participation of hundreds of countries.
