Philippine President and First Lady to Pay State Visit to Vietnam

At a regular press conference on the afternoon of January 25, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that this is President Marcos' first visit to Vietnam since he took office in June 2022.

Vietnam-Philippines relations have developed well in many areas. Political cooperation has been enhanced with many visits and high-level meetings and contacts.

Economic cooperation between the two countries has developed positively. The Philippines is currently Vietnam's 6th largest trading partner in ASEAN and 16th largest in the world, continuing to be Vietnam's largest rice export market.

In August 2023, during the visit to Vietnam of Philippine Foreign Minister Enrique Manalo, the two countries strive to soon bring trade turnover to 10 billion USD, focusing on rice trade.

Cooperation in other important areas between the two countries such as national defense and security, education and training, labor, culture, and tourism continues to be focused. Vietnam and the Philippines also maintain close coordination at regional and international forums such as ASEAN, the United Nations, and APEC.

The spokesman said that during the visit, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to hold talks with President Vo Van Thuong, meet with key Vietnamese leaders, and hold other important activities.

Vietnam and the Philippines promote cooperation in search and rescue and defense industry

At the Defense Policy Dialogue, Vietnam and the Philippines agreed to promote cooperation in areas where both sides have strengths and needs such as military medicine, search and rescue, and defense industry.

Vietnam - Philippines strive for 10 billion USD turnover, promote digital economic cooperation

Vietnam and the Philippines need to strive to soon reach a two-way trade turnover of 10 billion USD and promote cooperation in potential areas such as digital economy, circular economy, green economy, and support each other in developing the marine economy.
