Earlier, at a press conference about the talks between the US and Russian delegations in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the two sides have not yet set a date for the Trump-Putin summit to discuss Ukraine.

President Trump also said he was “very disappointed” to hear complaints from Kiev about being left out of the talks earlier that day between the US and Russia in Saudi Arabia.

Reuters news agency reported that, answering a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, when asked what he would say to the Ukrainians who felt "betrayed", the US leader shared: "I heard that they were very upset because they didn't have a place (in the negotiations), but they have been there for the past 3 years and long before that, they could have reached an agreement."

The US leader is also confident that he "has enough strength to end this conflict", and affirmed that he will not oppose Europe deploying peacekeeping forces to Ukraine to ensure security in case a peace agreement is reached.

Regarding the Ukrainian election, the White House boss made it clear: "That is not Russia's business but mine and many other countries' business."

After the Russia-US negotiations on February 18, Russian media quoted Russian Presidential Advisor Yuri Ushakov as saying that Washington had appointed US Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg to represent the country in negotiations on Kiev.

According to Adviser Ushakov, Mr. Kellogg will be in charge of communications with Ukraine and Europe, while another representative or group of representatives will be selected for dialogue on Russian-American relations.

President Vladimir Putin will also appoint Russian representatives to participate in bilateral negotiations with the United States.

In another related move, European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas warned US Secretary of State Marco Rubi on the same day that Washington should avoid falling into Russia's "trap" after negotiations on the Ukraine issue in Riyadh.

According to EU officials, through cooperation with the United States, Europe can achieve a just and lasting peace - on Ukraine's terms.
