General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife leave Beijing, successfully concluding their visit to China.

After a three-day state visit to China, on August 20, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife successfully concluded their state visit to China at the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife.

Seeing off General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife at the airport were Secretary of the Secretariat, State Councilor, Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong; Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Ba and a number of officials from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai and his wife, embassy officials, representatives of the community and Vietnamese students studying in China.

The State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife took place from August 18-20. During the meetings, senior and local leaders of China, as well as Chinese friends, expressed their deep condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; highly appreciated the great and important contributions of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause and Vietnam-China relations, as well as the development of socialism in the world.

During the visit, China fired 21 cannon shots to welcome General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife on a state visit. The official welcoming ceremony was solemnly held at the Great Hall of the People in an atmosphere of colorful flags and flowers.

The two General Secretaries and Presidents of Vietnam and China had an important meeting. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping emphasized that the first State visit to China, which is also the first foreign visit of General Secretary and President To Lam as the head of the Party and State of Vietnam, is of great significance, demonstrating the high regard and top priority of the two Parties and two countries for the Vietnam-China relationship.

Mr. Xi Jinping said that this is an important time for the two countries to bring bilateral relations to a new height, deepening and substantiating in all aspects. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping affirmed that Vietnam is a priority direction in China's foreign policy; supporting Vietnam to uphold the Party's leadership and promote the cause of building socialism.

General Secretary and President To Lam had a meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji; met with Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning and Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang. General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife attended a state banquet hosted by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his wife; General Secretary and President To Lam attended a banquet hosted by Premier Li Qiang.

At the meetings, the leaders of the two countries had in-depth discussions on major orientations to enhance trust, consolidate friendship, improve the effectiveness of substantive cooperation in all fields, maintain peace and stability at sea, and continue to develop Vietnam-China relations in a healthy, stable and sustainable manner in accordance with the motto "16 words" and the spirit of "4 goods".

The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen security and defense cooperation and promote economic, trade and investment cooperation.

The two sides reached high consensus on enhancing political trust, maintaining regular exchanges and contacts between senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries; attaching importance to the strategic orientation role of the Party channel for the overall bilateral relations between the two countries; continuing to deepen theoretical cooperation, through mechanisms such as the Theoretical Workshop between the two Parties, promptly sharing the latest theoretical and practical achievements of each Party and each country, which have practical significance in contributing to the cause of each Party and each country.

The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen security and defense cooperation, promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, including promoting the connection of "two corridors, one belt" with the "Belt and Road", enhancing the connection of railway and road infrastructure, enhancing supply chain cooperation, economic cooperation between border provinces, enhancing exchanges on state-owned enterprise reform... The two countries will also coordinate to organize activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025.

During the visit, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping respectfully invited and joined General Secretary and President To Lam in a tea party. The tea party took place in a joyful, warm, friendly atmosphere, and together they reviewed the tradition of friendship between the two Parties and the two countries.

The wife of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, Professor Peng Liyuan, invited the wife of General Secretary and President Su Lin, Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, to enjoy a tea party and watch a traditional Chinese art performance.

Two Vietnamese and Chinese ladies enjoy an artistic tea party

General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife visited the Vietnamese Embassy in China and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in China. The leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State visited the Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao Zedong, the leader of the Chinese People, a close comrade of the Vietnamese People; visited and worked at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and MEGVII Company.

On the first day in China, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, visited Guangdong province. Here, the delegation laid flowers and incense in memory of Martyr Pham Hong Thai, visited the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association relic site, met with Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Hoang Khon Minh, and met with Chinese friendship figures.

This is the first foreign trip of General Secretary and President To Lam in his new position; it is a particularly important foreign activity between Vietnam and China this year, having a great impact on the development trend of relations between the two Parties and two countries in the long term to come.

The fact that General Secretary and President To Lam accepted the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to make his first State visit to China after assuming his new position demonstrates the importance and top priority of both sides in consolidating and developing the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and building the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, which has strategic significance.

At the end of the visit, the two sides signed 14 documents, marking new cooperation in the Vietnam-China relationship, looking towards the future.
