Since the beginning of the year, Binh Dinh has organized many programs and festivals to promote the image of tourism and the homeland to tourists and people inside and outside the province. In particular, some international events such as Binh Dinh Sports, Culture and Tourism Week 2024 with many rich, diverse and attractive activities, attracting a large audience inside and outside the province, international visitors, contributing to promoting the brand, image of the land and people of Binh Dinh, while promoting the province's tourism industry to develop more strongly. Quy Nhon City continues to be honored as the ASEAN Clean Tourist City 2024. In addition, tourist areas and destinations have proactively improved the quality of services, organized many unique events and activities to bring attractive and new experiences to tourists, contributing to improving the effectiveness of attracting tourists.
The tourism industry has also strengthened the inspection of compliance with legal regulations in tourism business activities at tourist areas, destinations, and accommodation establishments; inspected tourist transportation activities and tour guide activities; created an image of a beautiful space to enhance the effectiveness of attracting domestic and foreign tourists. In the first 6 months of the year, Binh Dinh tourism industry is estimated to have welcomed over 5.6 million visitors, up 106.1% over the same period; tourism revenue is estimated at 15,001 billion VND, up 96.9% over the same period.
Along with that, the market of goods in the province is quite vibrant, rich, smooth circulation, increased purchasing power. In the first 6 months of the year, there were many big events and festivals such as: Lunar New Year, Hung King's death anniversary, April 30 and May 1 holidays, cultural festivals, tourism, sports, exhibitions, etc., so the demand for consumption and entertainment of the people increased, contributing to promoting the revival of trade and service activities, especially tourism, accommodation and food services.
The Provincial People's Committee has directed the synchronous and effective implementation of solutions to stimulate domestic consumption, stimulate tourism and services, especially organizing programs and activities within the framework of the 2024 Summer Tourism Festival. Deploying the development of a plan for night-time economic development in the province. Promoting trade promotion activities, expanding export markets; promoting and introducing key local agricultural products associated with supporting the consumption of agricultural products for people, especially OCOP products. Strengthening market inspection and control, ensuring the circulation of goods and market prices, especially during the Lunar New Year, resolutely handling cases of trading in goods that do not ensure hygiene, food safety, smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin or speculation, hoarding goods for profit, etc.
In the first 6 months of the year, total retail sales of goods and service revenue reached VND58,333.4 billion, up 14.6% over the same period. In which, by economic sector as follows: Commerce reached VND44,870.4 billion, up 11.3%; Hotels and restaurants reached VND8,326.9 billion, up 29.4%; travel services reached VND450.8 billion, up 61.2%; Other consumer services reached VND4,685.2 billion, up 21.5% over the same period.
The management of land, mineral resources and environmental protection in the province continues to receive attention and direction. The Provincial People's Committee has directed departments, branches and localities to strengthen the management of mineral resources (soil, stone, sand, etc.), inspect and promptly and strictly handle cases of illegal or improper exploitation of soil, stone, sand, etc., causing waste of resources, budget loss and environmental pollution. Approval of the 2024 Land Use Plan of districts, towns and cities.
The Provincial People's Committee continues to resolutely and synchronously direct plans to handle environmental issues in the province, especially in the collection, transportation, and treatment of garbage, waste, and wastewater in both production and daily life; improve the quality of land and mineral resource management; promote digital transformation in land management; inspect and resolutely handle violations of land, mineral resources, forests, and forest land.
Promote investment attraction
In the first 6 months of the year, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province continued to promote investment attraction. Up to now, an investment promotion delegation has been organized in Thailand to call for investment projects in the fields of tourism, seaports, logistics, etc. and organized the Binh Dinh Investment Promotion Conference in 2024. Along with that, the province also organized working sessions with businesses from a number of countries such as Israel, Korea, UAE, Thailand, etc. to explore investment opportunities in Binh Dinh.
Regarding foreign investment, in the first 6 months of the year, no new FDI projects have been created in the province. Up to now, the province has 89 FDI projects with a total registered capital of over 1.18 billion USD; including 41 projects in Economic Zones and Industrial Parks with a total registered capital of 931.9 million USD and 48 projects outside Economic Zones and Industrial Parks with a total registered capital of 245.4 million USD. Regarding domestic investment, the province has attracted 24 new domestic investment projects with a total registered capital of 2,960 billion VND. Of which, there are 8 projects in Economic Zones and Industrial Parks with a total investment capital of 374.1 billion VND; 9 projects in Industrial Clusters with a total investment capital of 694.6 billion VND; 7 projects outside Economic Zones, Industrial Zones, Industrial Clusters with a total investment capital of 1,891.7 billion VND. In addition, since the beginning of the year, 34 projects have been adjusted with an additional investment capital of VND 692.4 billion. It is estimated that in the first 6 months of the year, the whole province has attracted 27 projects, reaching 27% of the yearly plan.
Some major projects have been approved in principle in recent times such as: the project of the combined urban renovation and housing area in the southern and northern areas of Tang Bat Ho Street, Dieu Tri Town, Tuy Phuoc District of the Joint Venture of Phu Tai Joint Stock Company and An Phat Land Investment Joint Stock Company with a total investment of 861 billion VND; the concentrated agricultural and forestry production and processing area of Vinanutrifood Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company with a total investment of 495 billion VND...
In the last 6 months of 2024, Binh Dinh will continue to promote domestic and foreign investment attraction activities. Focus on promoting and attracting large-scale, high-tech projects, especially in the processing and manufacturing industries; promptly grasp and handle difficulties and problems of enterprises, especially administrative procedures to speed up project implementation progress.
