Searching and nurturing future elite talents for Vietnam

On January 26, in Hanoi, Samsung Vietnam officially launched the STEM Membership Program to search for and train outstanding talents to take on key responsibilities in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Vietnam in the future. This is also the first time the program has been implemented in Vietnam.

Attending the program were Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of the National Innovation Center. On the side of Samsung Vietnam, there was Mr. Choi Joo Ho - General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex. Along with representatives of Samsung Vietnam's leadership, representatives of the leaders of schools with students attending the program.

STEM Membership is a program to search for and train outstanding high school students in the field of science in various countries, aiming to create future technology human resources.

In Vietnam, the program began in June 2023, attracting the registration of a large number of high school students. Through the process of selecting documents and conducting interviews, the program selected 10 outstanding students including: 4 students from the High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 3 students from the Hanoi Pedagogical High School for Gifted Students and 3 students from the Hanoi Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students.

Participating in the program, students will be trained throughout their high school years, including: STEM capacity building training through courses of the Samsung Innovation Campus Program, applying STEM knowledge to creative projects to participate in the Solve For Tomorrow competition; Programming capacity building training; Korean language training.

Not only that, during the program, students will have the opportunity to attend seminars, experience the latest technology trends at global technology corporations such as Samsung and visit leading universities that cooperate with Samsung in Korea.

In particular, Samsung commits to continue to accompany and support students with medium and long-term plans such as: 100% tuition support when studying at Faculties/Universities that cooperate with Samsung in Korea; Opportunity to work at Samsung Korea after graduation...

Also at the event, Samsung and delegates directly visited and performed the opening ceremony of STEM Membership Lab located right at Samsung's Research and Development Center in Vietnam. With modern equipment and support from excellent engineers of Samsung R&D Vietnam, this will be the place for offline training programs, and at the same time a space for students to unleash their creativity when implementing their STEM projects.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Choi Joo Ho - General Director of Samsung Vietnam shared: "Talent is the most important key in the development of each country. Therefore, training future talents is an urgent problem for all countries in the world. Especially for Vietnam, a country that is striving to become a technologically developed country, this is an extremely important problem.

Not only stopping at economic contributions, Samsung is also making efforts to improve Vietnam's basic competitiveness. Samsung will strive to become "the enterprise that makes the most effort to train technology talents in Vietnam", contributing to the training of future technology talents through programs such as STEM Membership, and becoming "the enterprise that always accompanies Vietnam".

Also at the event, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy - Director of the National Innovation Center said: "NIC is honored to become one of the important partners of Samsung Vietnam in training technology talents, leading the national innovation process in the future. Knowing that Samsung STEM Membership is the first program launched in Vietnam, then expanded to a number of other countries, we hope that the Program in particular will achieve good results, and will join hands with Vietnam to nurture more young talents to contribute to the world economy."

Currently, Samsung is allocating to Vietnam the highest budget for corporate social responsibility activities among the countries in which the group invests. With the vision of "Together for Tomorrow! Enabling People", Samsung is focusing on implementing activities to nurture the future generation of young people through many other programs such as: Solve for Tomorrow (SFT) Science and Technology Innovation Competition to encourage children to apply STEM education knowledge related to the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to overcome existing social problems.; Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) technology talent development project to orient education for the young generation, providing IT knowledge from basic to advanced to help them have a solid technology foundation, thereby being more confident in becoming the key generation of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in the future.

The “S Hub Sharing Space” project in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang; “S Hub Kids Technology Space” for students who love STEM subjects; “Samsung Talent” program in cooperation with universities; “Samsung Hope School” project to bring extracurricular learning opportunities to children in difficult circumstances…
