Construction began in 1990, and the newly upgraded and expanded Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery covers an area of over 10 hectares. It is the resting place of more than 1,800 martyrs and the mass graves of martyrs who died in the fight to protect the northern border of the Fatherland.
In this war, the heroic martyrs fought bravely to protect every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland with the will "Not an inch to go, not a millimeter to move", determined to hold firmly every hill, cliff, and high point with the courageous spirit of "Living on the rocks to fight the enemy, dying to become immortal in stone".

At the Vi Xuyen front alone, more than 4,000 officers and soldiers heroically sacrificed their lives, more than 9,000 people were injured, and there are still thousands of remains of officers and soldiers scattered in crevices and deep valleys that have not been found and collected.
The exploits and names of the heroic martyrs have become immortal, engraved in the history of the nation and forever remembered in the minds of every generation of Vietnamese people.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and delegates offered flowers and incense to commemorate and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the happiness of the people.
Before the heroic martyrs, the delegates vowed to unite with one heart, be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; determined to join the entire Party and people in successfully carrying out the renovation process, building and firmly defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam.

Also on the morning of May 28, attending the inauguration ceremony of the renovation and upgrading project of Ha Giang Provincial Museum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that our Party is determined to build and develop an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, and develop culture on par with the economy, politics, and society.
Recently, we have organized the National Cultural Conference to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on the cultural field and celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture according to the principle of developing "national, scientific, popular" culture.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also emphasized that culture is the soul of the nation, as long as culture exists, the nation exists.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the project to upgrade and renovate the Ha Giang Provincial Museum.
Thus, according to the Prime Minister, cultural development also contributes to strengthening national defense and security, firmly protecting the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the country.
On the other hand, our Party also determined to develop cultural industries to promote cultural values and the strength of the Vietnamese people, contributing to realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy Vietnam. The Prime Minister said that the cultural industry needs to be developed in a professional and commercial direction, in accordance with national identity.
The Prime Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated the determination of the entire political system of Ha Giang province in implementing the project to renovate and upgrade the provincial museum, contributing to the implementation of the major orientations of the Party and State on cultural development, which has great significance for socio-economic development, political-ideological education, cultural-historical traditions, and patriotic traditions for the people.
The project to renovate and upgrade Ha Giang Provincial Museum started in 2020 with a total area of over 4,000 m2 and a total investment of over 106 billion VND.
The Prime Minister emphasized that history and culture are the solid foundation of patriotic tradition, the source of national strength, the spiritual foundation, and an important endogenous resource for sustainable development. In particular, museums are places to preserve and transmit the history and culture of the nation, serving the needs of scientific research, study, teaching, and dissemination of knowledge, and are places for public activities and cultural enjoyment.
In order for the Ha Giang Museum to truly promote its significance, value and effectiveness in preserving, promoting and transmitting the heroic and proud history and culture of Ha Giang in particular and of the Vietnamese people in general, the Prime Minister requested that Ha Giang province preserve, display and introduce existing artifacts well, at the same time collect and supplement valuable artifacts related to the history and culture of the province, and strengthen promotional activities and introduce the Provincial Museum, especially in the digital environment.
The museum displays the land and people of Ha Giang through history; the work of protecting the Fatherland and border security; the diverse and unique culture of 19 ethnic groups living in the province; 3 ecological regions (highland rocky mountains, highland dirt mountains, lowland mountains) and the process of construction and development of Ha Giang province...
Along with that, Ha Giang continues to focus on investing to perfect and constantly improve techniques, apply modern technology in preserving and introducing artifacts to enhance the experience and meet the increasing needs of tourists; regularly organize activities, exhibition events, cultural events at the Museum...
The Prime Minister hopes and believes that Ha Giang Museum will develop sustainably, inclusively, uniquely and effectively.
