Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project - held at 9A Street, Long Binh Ward, Thu Duc City.

Introducing an overview of the projects from the main bridge point of Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan said that up to now, the transport sector has put into operation about 1,729 km of expressways. However, the Southeast economic driving force region only has 147 km of expressways, and the potential Central Highlands region only has 19 km of expressways.

Implementing the 10-year socio-economic development strategy for the period 2021 - 2030 with the goal of striving for about 5,000 km of expressways nationwide by 2030, the projects being simultaneously deployed today play an important role in socio-economic development, forming belt roads, horizontal and vertical expressways, connecting economic centers, international border gates, seaports, airports, especially Long Thanh port, creating space, driving force and development space for the key economic region in the South as well as the Central Highlands.

In particular, the investment project to build Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 has a total length of 76.3 km, passing through 4 localities: Ho Chi Minh City (47.35 km), the provinces: Dong Nai (11.26 km), Binh Duong (10.76 km), Long An (6.81 km); preliminary total investment of 75,378 billion VND, basically completed in 2025 and put into operation from 2026. This is a particularly important project for Ho Chi Minh City because it not only shortens travel time between localities, the route also helps increase inter-regional connectivity to accelerate the development of industrial clusters, tourism services, rural urbanization along the route, connecting satellite cities of Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to the formation of a center in the direction of a multi-centered urban area.

The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Construction Investment Project Phase 1 has a length of about 53.7 km (Dong Nai province about 34.2 km; Ba Ria - Vung Tau province about 19.5 km). The Government has issued Resolution No. 90 to implement the project with the required progress of basically completing in 2025, completing and putting the entire project into synchronous operation in 2026. After completion, the project will connect with the North - South Expressway in the East, Long Thanh International Airport, connecting economic centers, seaports; maximizing the potential of Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport.

Construction of 3 traffic projects in the South started

The Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway phase 1 has a total length of about 117.5 km, with the basic goal of completing some sections with high traffic volume by 2025, basically completing the entire route by 2026 and putting the entire project into operation synchronously by 2027. When completed, the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway phase 1 will contribute to forming a horizontal axis connecting the Central Highlands with the South Central Coast, connecting the vertical axis system (North-South expressway in the east, Ho Chi Minh road, National Highway 1, coastal road), creating space and momentum for regional spatial development.

"Recently, the units have completed a huge amount of work, ensuring the conditions for the simultaneous commencement of 3 projects today. However, this is only the initial successful result. To ensure the progress of the projects, localities, project management boards, and investors need to speed up, ensure site clearance, pay attention to implementing resettlement for people as soon as possible, ensure raw material mines, resolutely direct contractors to organize construction right from the beginning; do not shift responsibility between units, develop scientific construction plans, ensure progress, quality, and safety for the project. The Ministry of Transport commits to providing maximum support and closely coordinating with units during the implementation process to complete the projects with the best quality and on schedule" - the Deputy Minister of Transport affirmed.
