Lottery revenue soars to record high

According to data from the Ministry of Finance, total revenue from lottery activities in 2023 exceeded VND 8,300 billion, equivalent to 22% higher than the estimate approved by the National Assembly.

Total revenue from this activity in 2023 will reach 45,880 billion VND. This is the largest revenue from lottery activities ever.

The main contributors to the budget from lottery activities are 21 lottery companies in the South including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai...

Lottery revenue soars to record high - 1

Typically, Ho Chi Minh City Lottery Company recorded revenue of more than VND 11,370 billion in 2023, pre-tax profit reached nearly VND 1,500 billion, tax and payment to the State budget of more than VND 3,800 billion.

Long An Lottery Company also recorded an estimated revenue of over VND6,300 billion last year. The budget revenue from lottery business activities was VND2,362 billion.

Vinh Long Lottery Company contributed 1,714 billion VND to the budget, through total lottery ticket revenue of nearly 6,400 billion VND.

Or Ben Tre Lottery Company estimated that lottery ticket sales last year reached 6,318 billion VND. Lottery revenue paid to the provincial budget was more than 1,760 billion VND.

In the recent directive of the Standing Committee of the Southern Lottery Council, all lottery companies in the region maintain unsold ticket collection points in all provinces and cities in the South. Lottery companies are not allowed to stipulate that agents are not allowed to return unsold tickets, nor are they allowed to put any pressure on level 1 agents to return unsold tickets.
