An excellent bachelor's degree is the "sweet fruit" and the title of valedictorian has proven Minh Tam's efforts and perseverance throughout 4 years of university.
Once a shy schoolgirl
Minh Tam confided that the title of valedictorian of the Law major at Hanoi Law University in 2024 is something she never dared to dream of. During her studies, she only thought that she had to try her best so that after graduating, she could become a good lawyer and apply the knowledge she had learned to her work.
However, when I own a title that many people aspire to, I see it as a motivation to strive and try harder, not considering it as something "better than others" because when I start working in reality, many things I will have to "do from scratch".
Therefore, I always remind myself to be humble, not complacent with what I have achieved, listen and accept new knowledge and experiences.
Minh Tam shared that during her high school years, she was very quiet, shy about communicating, and rarely interacted with teachers, even though in class the teachers asked questions that she could answer, and that nature followed her into college.
Not to mention the day of admission, seeing the achievement list of many classmates who were national excellent students, with many years of excellent grades made Minh Tam worried. Because the entrance exam score was not too high and she was quite shy, Tam always felt left behind compared to her classmates.
In addition, the main learning method at university is that students have to study the textbooks themselves and actively ask questions to the lecturers. Teachers only teach core knowledge. “In the first week of school, I lost more than 3kg because I was so stressed,” Minh Tam recalled, adding that she once thought about giving up her law degree to follow her parents into business.
But after calming down, I reassured myself that if others can do it, I can do it too, not to mention that understanding the law will have many benefits.
In order not to be left behind by her classmates, Minh Tam began to change her study methods. Before class, she re-reads the textbook, looks up technical terms and laws to understand the concepts and applications correctly.
When the teacher was lecturing, the female valedictorian tried to pay attention and take full notes.
At home, Minh Tam spent about an hour re-reading the notes he had taken. For questions he did not understand, he asked his teacher for immediate answers. At the same time, Minh Tam also spent time practicing many difficult types of questions and exchanging knowledge with friends.
“Although many of the contents may not appear in the test, it will help me understand them thoroughly and apply them later. Thanks to that, in the 4 years of studying, my scores have always been among the top in the class, which is the motivation that helps me to be more confident in myself,” Minh Tam shared.

Efforts to realize dreams
When asked what made her choose to study, Minh Tam smiled and shared: “My family is in business so we have to constantly learn about the law. At the same time, I want to study Law to be able to protect the disadvantaged in society.
Therefore, on the day of registration, I did not hesitate when choosing a major, but confidently applied to the Law major, Hanoi Law University, according to the admission combination of block C00.
Thanks to that, during his 4 years as a student, the valedictorian of Hanoi Law University had many experiences to train himself such as participating in extracurricular activities of the school and volunteer activities of the city.
After such times, Minh Tam had the opportunity to interact with new friends and receive enthusiastic guidance from teachers and seniors.
“From there, I learned a lot of experience, knowledge, and experiences about the field of study, and even lessons about daily life. Most recently, I participated in the 2024 Theory and Constitution Seminar at Hanoi Law University organized by the School Law Club in the school.
Through the discussion, I not only understood more deeply about the constitution and the law, but also received comments and revisions from teachers to improve my presentation. At the same time, I was able to practice my public speaking skills to help me confidently speak in front of a crowd," the female student shared.
Besides maintaining her studies, the female student from Hanoi spends her weekends participating in propaganda sessions in residential groups and wards to help people understand important laws and decrees.
In addition, I am also a member of the news site "Lawyer Legal Advice 247", answering free questions from the community about the law.
For many years, Minh Tam was an excellent student who received a certificate of merit from the President of Hanoi Law University, a certificate of merit from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, a certificate of Third Prize in the Civil Law Competition... Notably, Minh Tam was also honored to be in the ranks of the Party.
Minh Tam said that she feels very proud to be a member of the Party. This is not only a great honor but also an opportunity and motivation for her to assert herself, to try harder in studying and training to have a bright future, worthy of being an exemplary young Party member.
As a companion and close friend of Tam during her long university years, Master Phi Thi Thanh Tuyen, academic advisor of class 4506, Hanoi Law University, commented: “Tam is an active, creative student, well-organized in both studying and extracurricular activities. In particular, she has the ability to judge problems well, which is a very important quality for students majoring in Law.”
