Trieu Mui Nai is one of the excellent ethnic minority students in Ha Giang who was directly admitted to Hanoi Law University based on high school transcripts with an average score of 9.2 points in the C00 combination. In addition, in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam, Nai achieved 28 points in the C00 combination.
The first person in the village to go to university
Nai was born and raised in the poor countryside of Nam Li village, Quang Nguyen commune, Xin Man district, Ha Giang province. In Nai's hometown, people mainly work on the fields, and life is still difficult. Many young people drop out of school after finishing high school to work for hire in industrial parks or export labor.
“In my village, I am the only one who goes to university. My family is not rich, but I still want to choose the path of education to change my life and avoid suffering,” Nai shared.
The house is 237km from school. During the three years of high school, the number of times the Dao ethnic female student returned home could be counted on the fingers of one hand. There were years when the Dao female student only returned home 1-2 times, so Nai always tried to use her academic achievements to make up for the difficulties and deprivation that the people in the mountains experienced.
When asked about the homesickness of students living far from home, Nai could not hold back her tears. The female student recounted the day her grandfather passed away, but because her house was far away, she could not catch a bus home in time. Thinking about the days she lived with her grandfather and family, Nai often felt sad because of her own situation.
Nai confided: "Many times, when I miss home and feel pressure from studying, I just silently endure, not daring to call my parents to confide in them, for fear that everyone at home will worry."
For Nai, the times when she gets to go home are the happiest times. She eagerly tells her parents and grandparents about her studies.
“When I get home, I usually help my parents with the farming, clean the house, and chat with my grandparents. I also spend my free time reviewing my lessons so I don’t forget them,” the female student said.
Sharing her study secrets, the Dao female student said that she has a scientific and disciplined study plan.
In addition to studying in class, I spend about 2 hours per subject every day. I divide each subject into 3 parts: Basic knowledge, exercises and advanced exercises. I try to grasp each part of my study.
In addition, I make the most of the time teachers lecture in class, boldly ask teachers and friends about parts I don't understand.
Besides, during three years of high school, Nai was always at the top of her class, and she also won high prizes in the History excellent student contest at school, district and provincial levels.
At the end of grade 12, Nai was honored to be admitted to the Party. Nai said that the quota for admission to the Party was not high, she felt very proud, this was not only a great honor but also an opportunity and motivation for her to assert herself, try harder in studying and training to have a good future, worthy of being an exemplary young Party member.
Nai was a former student of Xin Man District Ethnic Minority High School, so when she was in high school, her teachers directed her to take the entrance exam to Viet Bac High School (Thai Nguyen) to have a better learning environment.
Trieu Mui Nai became a new student at Hanoi Law University.
Dream of becoming a lawyer
The dream of becoming a lawyer was kindled in the little Dao girl since she was very young. Therefore, although her high school years were difficult and arduous, she always reminded herself to try her best, to put aside homesickness and pressure to study and strive to maintain good academic performance.
With an average GPA of 9.2 points in the C00 combination, Nai was admitted to the Law program based on GPA.
Nai said: "I was extremely happy when I heard that I was admitted early, thanks to that I felt less pressured during the final exam preparation period."
The female student said that she decided to study at Hanoi Law University because she wanted to do something for her hometown. Nai shared that the people in her hometown are mainly ethnic minorities, because of poverty they do not have the conditions to study properly, so many young women and men do not understand the law, leading to being taken advantage of by bad people.
“Many gullible women are easily tricked by bad guys and sold across the border, losing their lives, or people break the law without knowing it, only realizing it when they are caught and have to pay a heavy price…” Nai said.
From that reality, Nai dreamed of becoming a lawyer in the future to help the disadvantaged, especially women in the village.
“I want to bring legal knowledge to the villagers, educate them about their rights and obligations as citizens, as well as how to protect themselves from temptations and social evils,” the Dao female student shared.
Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Huyen - teacher at Viet Bac Ethnic High School, head teacher of Nai said: "She is diligent, agile, has clear goals and plans in her learning process. She is very active and enthusiastic in group activities."
Ms. Huyen hopes that in the future, new students will always try, make every effort and never give up when facing difficult problems.
“If you encounter difficulties, look back, I and everyone else are still here ready to help when you need it. I believe you will be more successful in the future,” Ms. Huyen told Nai.
Currently, to overcome financial difficulties in addition to studying, Nai plans to apply for a tutoring job to cover her own living expenses. She sets a goal that after four years of university, she will get an excellent degree to have a stable job and become a useful lawyer.
