A representative of Hanoi Law University said that the school is carrying out legal procedures to cancel the academic results and revoke the degrees granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet.

On the morning of October 22, a representative of Hanoi Law University, Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Head of the Postgraduate Training Department, answered the press about the handling of the doctoral degree that the school granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet, aka Venerable Thich Chan Quang.

According to Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, in response to the request of the Ministry of Education and Training, Hanoi Law University is carrying out legal procedures to cancel the results and revoke the degrees granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet in accordance with the provisions of law.

Through the incident, Hanoi Law University held a meeting to review and evaluate the implementation of training regulations to continue improving the process, enhancing training quality and avoiding similar cases.

Hanoi University is in the process of revoking Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's university degree.

Speaking with Thanh Nien Newspaper, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training also said that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet admitted that he used his high school diploma illegally and voluntarily handed over the diplomas for handling according to regulations.

Early in the morning of October 22, responding to Thanh Nien Newspaper , a representative of Hanoi University said that Hanoi University is carrying out procedures to revoke the bachelor's degree in English from the distance learning program granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet.

As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, on October 21, the Ministry of Education and Training officially announced the results of the verification of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's degree that the Ministry of Education and Training had coordinated with relevant agencies to conduct in the past time.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training determined that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet had used an illegal high school diploma. The Ministry of Education and Training has directed Hanoi Law University and Hanoi University to promptly revoke the diplomas granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet in accordance with the law.

According to the press release on June 25 of Hanoi Law University, Mr. Vuong Tan Viet was born in 1959, passed the second degree course 1 of the university level of law, the form of study and work of Hanoi Law University opened at Bach Viet College, Ho Chi Minh City, in January 2017, graduated in January 2019. Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's first degree is a university degree in English in 2001 at the University of Foreign Languages, now Hanoi University.

Then, in November 2019, Mr. Vuong Tan Viet was admitted to the 25B course (2019 - 2023 school year); in December 2021, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis at the Hanoi Law University; in March 2022, he was awarded a doctorate in constitutional and administrative law.
