At 5:00 p.m. on July 30, the Ministry of Education and Training's (MOET) Admissions System will lock the function of registering for university admission in 2023. Experts recommend that candidates should not wait until the last day to register or adjust their wishes because there is a risk of network congestion.
Which wish is priority?
There is only 1 day left until the deadline for registering university admission wishes. As of 5:00 p.m. on July 27, nearly 600,000 candidates have registered their university admission wishes on the Ministry of Education and Training's General Admission Support System with 2.9 million wishes. Due to the fluctuation of the floor score this year, many candidates have the mentality of waiting until the end to register for admission. This poses many risks of information errors, unsuccessful registration of wishes affecting the admission process, or even not being able to enter university.
Candidates should research information about schools before applying for university admission. |
For candidates who have registered, it is necessary to check the personal information accurately, providing full information about the data and results that they use for admission. This is a point that many candidates easily overlook. This year, with the support of the admission system, candidates do not need to choose between the admission method or combination, just register for the school, the major they want, the system will automatically process and choose the most optimal combination and method.
The second point is that in the 2022 admission regulations, there is a content that will take effect from 2023, applying priority points for regions and subjects. For priority points for regions, students will be applied for 2 consecutive years (the year of the high school graduation exam and the following year). With priority points for subjects and regions, based on high school graduation exam scores or school report scores (on a 30-point scale), if the total score of the candidate is 22.5 or higher, the priority points will decrease linearly. Thus, if the candidate has reached 30 points, there is no need to add priority points anymore. These are two new points that candidates need to pay attention to in order to choose the most suitable wishes.
However, when you have finished adjusting, remember to “end the process”, use the “Complete” (submit) button so that the system can record the adjustments and changes you have just made. Otherwise, candidates will miss the opportunity when there is a decisive change.
According to the regulations, candidates will be recognized as having passed the admission for the choice that they meet the admission score requirements, and will be given the highest priority. Candidates who have passed one choice will not be considered for the next choices. Therefore, candidates should give priority to the majors and schools they like the most.
To determine the order of priority, the basis is training orientation, scholarship policy, tuition fees, extracurricular environment, business connection activities to "lock" the school, ensuring convenience throughout the university learning process.
The university floor score based on high school graduation exam scores this year fluctuated strongly in many majors. The major with the highest floor score was 24.5 points and the lowest was 14 points. Many major universities in the North predicted that the admission standard score based on the 2023 high school graduation exam results would decrease from 0.25 to 1.5 points.
This year, for the majors in the education and health sectors, most schools announced the floor score at the same level as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2023 (the health sector has a floor score of 19 - 22.5; education 18 - 19 points). Only the primary education sector of Vinh University has the highest floor score in the country with 24.5 points (on a 30-point scale, including priority points for subjects and regions). All other majors of this school have a floor score of 16 - 23.5 points.
Regarding majors in the Social Sciences and Humanities sector, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) said that the expected admission score for this year's school is lower than in 2022. Last year, the admission score for the school's Journalism major was up to 29.9 in the C00 group. The three majors with the highest admission scores last year were: Korean Studies, Oriental Studies, and Public Relations, all with 29.95 points. The majors of International Studies and Office Administration (C00 group) had 29 points. "Candidates can be completely assured that this year's admission score may not be as high as last year's," Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong shared.
Dr. Le Dinh Nam, Deputy Head of Admissions Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, commented that the benchmark scores for the Automation, Mechatronics and Mathematics majors may remain the same or not change significantly. For the remaining majors, the scores may decrease. Particularly for some hot majors that are of interest to candidates and have high competition such as Information Technology, the benchmark scores may increase slightly.
Dr. Than Thanh Son, Head of Training Department of Hanoi University of Industry, predicts that the admission scores for majors with the A00 combination this year will be stable or decrease slightly depending on the major, the decrease will be between 0.25 and 0.5 points. In particular, majors with admission scores of 26 and above will decrease by at least 0.25 points. It is predicted that the admission scores for majors with admission scores of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will be more than 27.5 points.
However, these are predictions for reference only, because the admission score depends not only on the admission score but also on other factors, such as the allocation quota for the method of using high school graduation exam results and the recruitment source.
Opportunity to be admitted to new majors
It is a fact that many candidates still search and choose by keywords of “hot majors”. However, being ahead of newly opened majors that are in need of human resources is the right trend, and at the same time brings many opportunities for candidates to be admitted. Experts advise that students should learn about the admission plans of schools to find opportunities to be admitted to these new majors.
In 2023, the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) will enroll 28 majors, including two new majors: Biopharmaceuticals (Faculty of Biology) and Environmental Safety (Faculty of Environment). Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tien Duc, Deputy Head of Training Department, University of Science, said: “This is the first major related to the field of Biopharmaceuticals in Vietnam, the major is opened on the basis of medicinal herbs and biological strengths of Vietnam, combined with biotechnology. The Environmental Safety major meets the needs of occupational health, this is a very important major”.
In addition, the school has a number of new majors opened in the past 4 years such as: Faculty of Mathematics has a major in Data Science, Faculty of Physics has a major in Electronics - Informatics; Major in Earth Sciences... Surveys show that more than 90% of students have jobs after 3 months of graduation and after 1 year, 100% of students have jobs.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology opened 3 new majors this year, including 2 majors in Materials and Biotechnology (Advanced Program). The University of Mining and Geology also has new majors such as Geological Tourism, Urban Development Management Real Estate, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Labor Safety. These are majors that the schools have surveyed businesses and society about the necessary job positions.
