MSc - Dr. Le Thi Nga, Department of Plastic Surgery and Maxillofacial Surgery, Hospital E (Hanoi), said that the long dao is known as a training tool to help gym goers increase their arm muscles. Recently, on TikTok and YouTube, clips of challenges have been circulating, so many people who do not go to the gym, especially children, buy them to play with.

However, when using these supplementary exercise tools, it is necessary to choose the right one for each person's physical condition, weight, height and must have an instructor (PT).

Users of long knives that are overweight compared to their physical condition may encounter some dangerous household accidents; this tool can cause accidents to the user such as torn arm muscles (when using too much force), broken noses, broken teeth, etc.

10-year-old boy had an accident at school while watching his friends challenge him to break a dragon sword.

In more dangerous situations, the dragon blade can hit the eye, causing damage to the eyeball or even rupture the pupil; hitting the forehead can cause traumatic brain injury or hematoma. Not to mention, the dragon blade can also be dangerous to others.

Accident while playing at school

Recently, doctors at E Hospital provided emergency care to a 10-year-old boy (living in Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi) who was hit in the face with a long knife, causing serious damage to his nose. The boy was admitted to the hospital with a swollen face, severe bruising around his nose, and a sunken deformity on the right side of his nose.

At Hospital E, the CT scan of the face and jaw determined that the boy had a fracture of the right nasal bone. The patient was transferred to the hospital's Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery for rhinoplasty.

Parents need to be careful when children play with dangerous objects such as knives. Toys need to be selected to suit the child's physical condition, height and weight, ensuring safety. If an accident caused by a knife occurs, parents need to take their child immediately to the nearest medical facility for a doctor to assess and treat the injury depending on the severity of the injury.

According to the surgical team, the boy was lucky because the blow from the long knife did not affect many other parts of his face such as his eyes, cheekbones, or forehead.

Talking to the doctors, the patient's family said that the accident happened during recess at school, while he and his friends were playing with a 30 kg dragon sword. This dragon sword was brought to class by a friend who challenged "who is the strongest" to break the dragon sword.

Most of the children gave up, but when a 1.34 m tall, 29 - 30 kg boy was playing hard, the boy standing next to him got hit in the face by the toy bar. After first aid at the school's medical room, the child was taken to E Hospital by his family for emergency treatment.

According to this boy, his friends knew about the dragon sword when watching clips on TikTok with a challenge game of who could break a 100 kg dragon sword, and he ordered the dragon sword online, priced from 49,000 - 75,000 VND/product.
