Looking at the way generations of Vietnamese students in the UK, Thailand, Australia and Singapore show their love for their homeland and their fellow countrymen who are facing serious consequences after Typhoon Yagi, we can clearly see: Natural disasters cause not only material damage but also leave behind mental pain. The spirit of solidarity and mutual support of Vietnamese children living abroad always shines, helping to fill the suffering and bring hope to the homeland.
UK: KCL Vietsoc is a bridge to remove language barriers, sending all our hearts to the Fatherland
Immediately after Typhoon Yagi swept through Hanoi and the northern provinces, the Vietnamese Students' Association at King's College London (KCL Vietsoc) quickly launched a communication campaign, translating articles and the appeal of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee into English, conveying information to both Vietnamese and foreigners.
In a short time, KCL Vietsoc has actively raised funds and called for donations to support the people of the North, who are facing severe losses after Typhoon Yagi.
The two leaders of the association, Phung Quang Huy and Ha Minh Trang, are both enthusiastic young people, born and raised in Hanoi. They are not only excellent students but also shining examples of responsibility and patriotism. Huy and Trang have led KCL Vietsoc members to participate in fundraising activities, while calling for support from the student community and international friends.
Quang Huy shared that when hearing the news about the great natural disaster sweeping the beloved North, many students here were very worried and troubled when they could not be with their relatives in their hometown.
"We believe that every contribution, no matter how small, can bring hope and help to flood victims. Through these efforts, KCL Vietsoc not only demonstrates the solidarity of Vietnamese students but also contributes to spreading love for the homeland to the hearts of those far away from home," said Quang Huy.
According to Minh Trang, KCL Vietsoc brings together many students from all over the country and Vietnamese people born and raised abroad. "The innate spirit of solidarity of the Vietnamese people has brought us closer together, with one heart towards the homeland, because no matter where we live, Vietnamese blood still flows in our veins," Minh Trang confided.
Singapore: VNYA launches online fundraising campaign
The Vietnamese Students’ Association in Singapore (VNYA) has launched an online fundraising campaign to raise awareness and support from the community. The campaign encourages participants to post articles or videos on social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, with messages of support or encouragement for compatriots affected by Typhoon Yagi. Each eligible post will be converted into S$10 to support the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
After 5 days of implementation, the campaign has attracted the participation and response of many Vietnamese students living and studying in Singapore. The most meaningful element of this campaign lies in the messages of love and encouragement shared with the hashtag #TogetherForVietnam. The total amount of money raised and donated by VNYA was sent directly to the account of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on September 26.
Xuan Mai, President of VNYA, said that during the idea generation process, the association members discussed very carefully the plan to call on the community to join hands with flood victims in the country. "Many plans were proposed, but we unanimously aimed for a plan that would make the most practical contribution, while spreading many values of life to the community, in addition to donating money."
"It's not just the material value, but the meaning of connecting the spirit of young Vietnamese people in Singapore with their homeland that is the most beautiful and meaningful thing in the activities we initiate," Mai said.
Thailand: Vietnamese students join hands
In Thailand, upon receiving news of the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi, the Vietnamese Student Association quickly coordinated with the Overseas Students Party Committee to launch a fundraising campaign. The group of young people raised funds and mobilized the community to ease the pain and support their compatriots in times of trouble. Such joint actions not only contribute to building a united and compassionate Vietnamese student community in Thailand, but also demonstrate a sense of responsibility and deepen ties with the homeland.
Australia: Timely support is priority number 1
Like many youth groups from around the world, the Vietnamese Student Association in Australia quickly launched an internal fundraising campaign among members and volunteers to join hands to help our fellow countrymen in distress as soon as news of Typhoon Yagi was received.
Nguyen Bang Vu, Secretary of the Vietnamese Student Association in Victoria, shared: "Due to the geographical distance, although we really want to directly support necessities like everyone in Vietnam, this is really difficult."
Vu said that distance cannot diminish love and responsibility. The love for the homeland and the spirit of solidarity of the young generation of Vietnam, wherever they are, are admirable and valuable! Immediately after the urgent campaign, you quickly transferred the donated money to the Central account to share the pain with your compatriots.

Each of the above stories seems to stop at financial contributions, but in fact, it has left each person with a deep sense of pride for the young generation of Vietnam around the world in peacetime—a generation that carries within itself the consciousness of preserving and promoting the national spirit. Not only in Vietnam, but everywhere in the world, Vietnamese students are striving to live a life of responsibility to the country, always looking back to their roots. These actions do not only stop at raising awareness or spreading moral values, but also represent a strong message from the young generation: When the Fatherland needs, the youth are present! When the Fatherland is in trouble, the youth are there! This spirit is not only expressed through specific actions but is also a source of motivation, affirming the strength and solidarity of the children of Vietnam, wherever they are.
