It seemed that coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students would have to accept another loss, but the Vietnamese women's volleyball girls rose up strongly, equalizing 17/17 and then winning 25/23, narrowing the score to 1-2.
The high spirits helped the Vietnamese players compete confidently and excitedly in game 4. In addition to the trio Thanh Thuy, Kieu Trinh, Lam Oanh, Nhu Quynh and Pham Thi Hien also played impressively when given the opportunity to enter the field. Although they took the lead first, the Vietnamese team was equalized and then surpassed by the opponent 14/10. Entering the decisive game 5, the Korean women's team took the lead, but Tran Thi Thanh Thuy shone with consecutive points from both attacking and blocking, helping the Vietnamese women's volleyball team equalize the score 6/6 and then rise to win 15/13, completing a spectacular 3-2 comeback victory over the Korean team.
Having defeated the strongest opponent in Group C, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has a great chance of entering the second qualifying round as group leader. At 6 p.m. tomorrow (August 31), Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and the Vietnamese women's team will face Uzbekistan in the second match of Group C.
