Implementing the Law on Military Service and the Prime Minister's decision on calling citizens to join the army in 2025, from February 13-15, young people nationwide will leave for military service in 2025.
In 2025, the selection and call-up of citizens for military service will be carried out in one batch. According to the plan, the 2025 military enlistment ceremony in localities will take place over 3 days.
On February 13, 52 provinces and cities held military handover ceremonies, including the Hanoi Capital Command; 6 provinces of Military Region 1; 4 provinces of Military Region 2; 9 provinces and cities of Military Region 3; 11 provinces and cities of Military Region 5; 9 provinces and cities of Military Region 7; 12 provinces and cities of Military Region 9.
On February 14, 6 provinces and cities held military handover ceremonies (belonging to Military Region 4).
On February 15, 5 provinces (belonging to Military Region 2) held military handover ceremonies.

The Ministry of National Defense has instructed localities to effectively carry out military service registration and management of citizens of military service age; improve the quality of voting and recommending male citizens of military service age to participate in preliminary military service selection to ensure democracy, fairness and transparency.
The organization of reviewing citizens temporarily deferred from military service, exempted from military service, and citizens eligible for military service is conducted strictly and seriously, not allowing wrong subjects or missing citizens to join the army.
New points in military service
Speaking to VietNamNet, Major General Luong Van Thang, Deputy Director of the Military Department (Ministry of National Defense), said that the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2025 has new points compared to last year. In previous years, the regulations on compulsory health examination mainly focused on clinical examination, and only when necessary, paraclinical testing was decided.
After receiving the soldiers, the Army units re-examined their health and conducted paraclinical tests, thereby discovering internal and surgical diseases that could not be detected through clinical examination at the local level, leading to ineligibility and having to compensate and return them, causing waste of budget and time for the unit and locality, and affecting the psychology of citizens and their families.
On December 6, 2023, the Minister of National Defense issued Circular 105 stipulating health standards and health examinations for subjects under the management of the Ministry of National Defense.
Regarding health standards for selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2025, they will be implemented according to the provisions of the circular. However, eye standards will still be implemented according to the provisions of Circular No. 148 dated October 4, 2018 of the Minister of National Defense.
The content of the military service health examination includes physical examination, clinical examination by specialty and paraclinical examination.
Thus, the military service health check-up and health re-examination for new soldiers in 2025 will be carried out closely and in a unified manner between localities and units, which will minimize the possibility of compensation and return of citizens who do not meet health standards.
The Army advocates recruiting soldiers with standards from high to low and focuses on selecting citizens who have graduated from universities and colleges. This is a policy that is consistent with the Army's deployment and use needs in order to select a source of high-quality citizens to join the army, contributing significantly to improving the overall strength of the Army, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation. In addition, it also creates a source to build a large and widespread reserve force and create a source of cadres for the base.
