According to Gizmodo , billionaire Elon Musk's electric car company Tesla has quietly settled a lawsuit with the family of an Apple engineer who died in a car accident in 2018. The lawsuit revolves around Tesla's Autopilot self-driving system, which is believed to have caused the accident.

In March 2018, Walter Huang was killed when his Tesla Model X collided with a highway divider in California. Huang’s family blamed Tesla’s Autopilot feature for the accident, while Tesla claimed that Huang was playing a game on his phone when the accident occurred.

Under the settlement, Tesla will pay an undisclosed amount to the Huang family. The terms of the agreement also require that details of the lawsuit remain confidential.

The lawsuit has attracted public attention because it involves Tesla's Autopilot technology, which has been the subject of many safety controversies. Several serious accidents have been reported involving Autopilot, leading many to question the system's capabilities.

Tesla’s settlement with the Huang family could be seen as a move to reduce legal risk and avoid negative publicity about Autopilot, but the case also highlights concerns about the safety of autonomous driving systems and the need for greater government oversight.

Despite its name, Autopilot is essentially a cruise control feature with additional features that allow the car to take control of things like accelerating and decelerating. Autopilot is often confused with Tesla’s more advanced Full Self-Driving technology, but the company insists that it does not offer full self-driving capabilities and should only be used by drivers who are fully focused on the road.
