Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Tran Minh Triet said that during the storm last night (October 20), the school's security guard discovered a pangolin in the garden on campus and immediately called him to report it.

Mr. Triet said the guards captured and preserved the pangolin because it is a rare animal that needs protection.

Early this morning (October 21), Mr. Triet contacted the Chairman of Trung My Tay Ward People's Committee and was instructed to hand over the pangolin to the forest rangers.

Mr. Triet said that during the flag-raising ceremony earlier this week, the school showed the pangolin to the students and informed them about the pangolin being handed over to the forest rangers.

"Many children were surprised because it was the first time they saw a pangolin like that.

I myself want to educate children about protecting wild animals. When handing over the pangolin to the forest rangers, I hope that the animal will return to nature to live a healthy life" - Mr. Tran Minh Triet shared.

Receiving the pangolin and bringing it back for care and rescue according to regulations, the forest rangers of the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department determined that this was a Java pangolin, scientific name is Manis javanica , female, weighing about 4.5 kg, belonging to group IB in the list of rare and endangered forest animals.

According to the ranger, the pangolin is in normal health.

Ho Chi Minh City Forest Rangers receive 12kg albino python

Also on the afternoon of October 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department received and rescued an albino python (white in color, weighing about 12kg) voluntarily handed over by Mr. Pham Xuan Ha (in Tan Thanh ward, Tan Phu district).

Mr. Ha said he has been raising the python for about 5 years as a pet. "I want the forest rangers to take it to the conservation area and release it so that the animal can live in the wild, which is better than raising it," said Mr. Ha.

Initially, forest rangers from the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department identified the python as a ground python, scientific name Python bivittatus , belonging to group IIB in the list of rare and endangered forest animals.
