According to Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, Vietnam Science and Technology Journal is doing a good job of publishing domestic research but needs to soon reach out to regional and international integration.

On the afternoon of June 14, speaking at the event "65 years since the first issue of Vietnam Science and Technology Journal (VAST) was published", Minister Huynh Thanh Dat acknowledged the results of its development and growth, which has now become a prestigious national and regional magazine, fulfilling its role as a mouthpiece, a theoretical body, and publishing scientific results of Vietnam.

According to the Minister, the recent publication of additional English-language journals by the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology in the fields of natural sciences, technology and engineering, social sciences and humanities... shows the strong transformation of a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary journal. Through this, international scientists can follow and contribute to the development of Vietnamese science.

The Minister hopes that the Journal will soon be included in prestigious scientific databases in the world such as Web of Science and Scopus , contributing to enhancing the competitiveness and international integration of science and technology in Vietnam.

At the event, scientists and editorial board members also gave many suggestions to help the journal attract more articles submitted in English and prestigious reviewers.

According to Dr. Le Xuan Dinh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, in recent times, the publications of Vietnamese scientists have developed well, but the development of scientific journals has not been commensurate. At that time, the output coefficient was affected, while this is an important parameter for scientists. Accordingly, he hopes that domestic and international scientists and reviewers will continue to bring the journal to international standards.

Vietnam Science and Technology Journal (formerly known as Scientific Activities News) was established in 1959 together with the State Science Committee and published its first issue in June 1959.

Currently, the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology has a traditional edition serving state management and additional editions B, C (VJSTE), D (VMOST JOSSH) and an electronic journal (vjst.vn). Of which, editions C and D are published in English according to international standards. These editions are highly appreciated through the conversion score of works for the consideration of academic titles by the State Council of Professors.

Specifically, in 2013, the Journal was only given a score of 0.25 - 0.5 in some fields and interdisciplinary fields. After 10 years, the Journal was given a score by the State Council of Professors in 24/28 fields and interdisciplinary fields with the Journal version B, of which 11 fields and interdisciplinary fields were given a score of 1 - 1.25 points. This is the highest score for domestic scientific journals.
