Tan An Luong is the first model New Rural Commune of Vung Liem District.

Tan An Luong Commune, Vung Liem District, Vinh Long Province was recognized as meeting the new rural commune standards in 2017 and meeting the advanced new rural commune standards in 2019. Implementing the construction of a model new rural commune in 2024, Tan An Luong Commune has developed a plan to maintain and improve the quality of the advanced new rural commune criteria, ensuring 19/19 criteria according to the set of advanced new rural commune criteria for the period 2021 - 2025 in Vinh Long province.

In recent years, the Commune Steering Committee has strengthened agricultural extension work, mobilized people to change the structure of crops and livestock, developed effective economic models synchronously, and created favorable conditions for people to develop production. Production models bring high economic efficiency to people. In addition to mobilizing people to participate in production, economic models are also promoted for farmers to participate in cooperatives or establish cooperative groups to operate effectively and bring many benefits to members. Currently, the commune has 02 cooperatives (HTX) contributing to solving employment for idle workers and increasing income. Some production models bring high economic efficiency, contributing to increasing household income such as: growing vegetables on rice fields; watermelon growing model on rice fields, growing green-skinned grapefruit, growing Abalone mushrooms, etc. The average income per capita in 2024 of the commune will reach 79.36 million VND/person/year.

The commune has a flower road from Bac Nuoc Xoay Victory Monument to Muoi Hiep culvert, 1.7 km long with many types of banana wormwood, cotton, quynh anh, and yellow trumpet vine flowers, etc., which are currently in the development stage and have beautiful blooming flowers, attracting visitors. Domestic solid waste is collected and transported by Son Trung Thanh Company Limited to the province's centralized landfill. 3,141/3,141 households registered to collect and dump waste in the right place, a rate of 100%. There is no phenomenon of discharging wastewater or solid waste in violation of regulations. The rate of households classifying solid waste at source is 1,781/3,141 households, reaching a rate of 56.7%. The People's Committee of the commune has directed the Standing Committee of the Women's Union to build 03 models in 03 households in Go An, Rach Coc and Dap Say hamlets to propagate to people to clearly understand the purpose of classifying domestic waste.

The commune radio system has applied information technology - telecommunications and connected to the province's source information system. 100% of households have smartphones. The rate of small and medium enterprises, individual business households in the area applying information technology in production, business, product introduction (building websites, participating in e-commerce platforms, applying digital signatures, electronic invoices) reached 27.6%. The rate of people of working age who are popularized with knowledge about using computers and basic digital skills reached 82.06%; The rate of adults in the commune having online payment accounts, able to pay for essential services such as electricity, water, telecommunications - information technology services, tuition, medical examination and treatment... reached 86.97%.

For the self-selection criteria, the Commune People's Committee has directed hamlets in the area to establish a Community Digital Technology Team to promote the province's digital transformation platforms to the people. Hamlet officials have applied the government's digital transformation platforms such as: Information portal for receiving and responding to people's opinions, Smart Vinh Long application; Zalo channel; Facebook channel (digital transformation of Vinh Long province); commune electronic information page; online public service portal of the province, etc. to carry out information and propaganda work in the hamlet.

With the achieved results, on December 31, 2024, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province issued Decision No. 2761/QD-UBND on recognizing Tan An Luong commune, Vung Liem district as meeting the Model New Rural standards in 2024. This is also the first commune to be recognized as meeting the Model New Rural standards of Vung Liem district./.
