Woman detained for torturing 16-year-old girl

On September 10, a source from VietNamNet reported that the Investigation Police Agency of Tran Van Thoi District Police (Ca Mau Province) has issued a decision to temporarily detain Ms. Le Thi Kieu (43 years old, residing in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district) to investigate the act of torturing others.

According to the initial investigation, Ms. NTT (residing in Song Doc town) owed someone else more than 40 million VND and Ms. Kieu stood up to take the debt on her behalf. Around mid-May 2022, Ms. Kieu told Ms. T. to let her granddaughter NTBV (16 years old) come to her house to work for hire to pay off the debt.

When V. came to Mrs. Kieu's house to work, this woman used her hands and a bamboo stick to beat him many times every time he did something wrong, causing injuries to many parts of V.'s body.

Because of being beaten, V. escaped to his mother's house in Hau Giang.

Previously, a clip appeared on social media recording the image of V. crying as she recounted how Mrs. Kieu beat her.

The incident was exposed when Ms. HTH (53 years old) went to Song Doc Town Police to report Ms. Kieu's act of torturing others. Previously, Ms. H. discovered that V. had many injuries on her body, and upon questioning, she learned that these injuries were caused by Ms. Kieu.

At the police station, Ms. Kieu initially admitted to beating V.
