Syngenta Vietnam realizes the goal "For a sustainable future"

Syngenta Vietnam has just been awarded the “Enterprise for the Community” certificate at the “Saigon Times CSR 2024” event organized by Saigon Economic Magazine. The award recognizes Syngenta’s efforts in developing sustainable agriculture, supporting livelihoods and improving the quality of life for the Vietnamese people.


Saigon Times CSR 2024 - an event honoring 40 businesses with the theme "For a sustainable future" is similar to Syngenta Group's commitment to developing sustainable agriculture globally with four strategic priorities: (1) Increasing productivity and minimizing impact; (2) Restoring land and protecting nature; (3) Improving the lives of rural communities; and (4) Ensuring sustainable operations.

Syngenta Vietnam was honored as "Enterprise for the Community" at the Saigon Times CSR 2024 event organized by Saigon Economic Magazine.

During more than 30 years of operation in Vietnam, Syngenta has not only strived to bring the most advanced solutions in agricultural chemicals and seeds, helping to improve growing conditions for farmers and enhance crop quality, but also actively implemented many practical activities towards the community, contributing to making life more meaningful and beautiful.

From supporting rural communities to improving quality of life

Realizing its commitment, Syngenta Vietnam always focuses on improving the quality of life for rural people through the "Syngenta Shelter" program. Implemented since 2010, the program coordinates with local authorities to support the construction and repair of houses for families in difficult circumstances, while providing guidance on farming techniques, helping people increase their income and improve their lives. To date, the program has donated 160 houses worth more than VND8 billion to poor farmers in 40 provinces and cities.

Within the framework of the Program, Syngenta has built 25 standard toilets for schools in remote areas and 2 school locations with classrooms and toilets expected to be completed in 2024. In addition, Syngenta has also built 9 concrete bridges in the Mekong Delta, replacing bamboo and wooden bridges, creating convenient and safe travel conditions. In 2024, the company plans to build 4 more bridges in Long An and Tien Giang, contributing to the goal of new rural development.

Continuing its community activities, Syngenta also pays special attention to the role of women in rural communities with the program "Elevating Vietnamese rural women", helping to create conditions for rural women to not only access modern agricultural knowledge but also enhance their position and voice in agricultural production, contributing to promoting gender equality in the community.

Not only implementing annual CSR programs in rural areas, Syngenta Vietnam also encourages employees to participate in practical experiences through trips to remote areas across the country.

In addition, the spirit of sharing is strongly spread when Syngenta employees voluntarily contribute a part of their income to support community projects, support difficult circumstances and join hands to provide timely relief to people affected by natural disasters and floods. These actions from the heart not only create cohesive values ​​but also demonstrate social responsibility from each Syngenta member.

Sharing about the title "Enterprise for the community", Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Director of External Affairs and Sustainable Development, Syngenta Vietnam Company said: "The award is a testament to the Company's persistent efforts in contributing to the sustainable development of the community and society. Through comprehensive CSR initiatives, we not only promote the sustainable development of Vietnamese agriculture, increase prosperity and empower rural communities, but also contribute to environmental protection, create shared value for society and move towards a sustainable future for many generations".

Towards the goal of "For a sustainable future" of the agricultural sector

In parallel with efforts to promote community initiatives, Syngenta has been actively cooperating with partners to implement sustainable agricultural projects, focusing on some key crops such as coffee, rice and potatoes. These projects not only protect soil resources and promote biodiversity but also increase product value, encourage domestic consumption, increase exports, contribute to increasing farmers' income and contribute to the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.

One of Syngenta's highlights in Vietnam is the "Clean Environment, Green Life" program, which has been implemented since 2015 in the Mekong Delta, with the goal of raising farmers' awareness of environmental protection and the safe, effective and responsible use of pesticides.

The program has trained more than 30,000 farmers nationwide, collected 170 tons of used packaging, and planted more than 5,000 trees.

"Clean Environment - Green Life" has been highly appreciated and recognized by many localities. In 2024, Syngenta Vietnam received a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City and a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Binh District (Dong Thap) for its efforts to accompany the locality in raising farmers' awareness of environmental protection and the safe, effective and responsible use of pesticides, contributing to building a Green - Clean - Beautiful rural landscape.

With persistent efforts and strong commitment towards sustainable development, Syngenta Vietnam has been and will continue to accompany farmers, partners in the value chain and local communities to create meaningful values ​​for the future.
