(Dan Tri) - The principal of Van Phu Kindergarten in Ninh Binh found 48 boxes of unused fresh milk in his house. He was afraid it had expired, so he brought it to school for the students to drink to avoid waste and was suspected by parents that the milk had expired.

On the afternoon of October 24, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Dinh Van Trang, Vice Chairman of Nho Quan District People's Committee (Ninh Binh) said that the district is assigning the Department of Education and Training and Van Phu Commune People's Committee to clarify the incident where the Principal of Van Phu Kindergarten is suspected of allowing students to use unsafe food.

"After the dialogue between parents and the school organized by the Commune People's Committee, the incident was basically clarified, and now the students have returned to school as usual. Parents are no longer confused and worried like the previous days," Mr. Trang informed.

Previously, dozens of parents whose children study at Van Phu Kindergarten (Van Phu commune, Nho Quan district) signed a petition to report the incident, suspecting the school principal of giving children expired milk and using unsafe food.

After submitting a petition to the Nho Quan District Department of Education and Training, many parents have taken their children out of school due to health concerns. "We dare not send our children to school because we are afraid that the school will feed them unsafe and unhygienic food," the parents stated in their petition.

Immediately after the parents' complaint, the authorities of Nho Quan district stepped in to investigate. The leader of Van Phu commune People's Committee said that the incident in which parents suspected the school of giving children expired milk had occurred since April.

However, in early October (2024-2025 school year), some parents shared an audio recording saying that the school used expired milk for students to drink, causing confusion among parents.

"Authorities have clarified the incident in which Ms. Trinh Thi Ha, Principal of Van Phu Kindergarten, brought 48 cartons of fresh milk from home to school for students to drink. The milk cartons still had an expiration date (5 days left)," said the leader of Van Phu commune.

Mr. Dinh Van Thoai, Vice Chairman of Van Phu Commune People's Committee, informed that regarding the use of peeled green beans without an expiration date on the packaging, along with tapioca starch used to cook for children as reported by parents, the inspection results showed that the school did not let the children eat this dish and asked the kitchen to cook porridge instead.

On October 22, at the dialogue between parents and the school organized by the Commune People's Committee, the contents were clarified. Specifically, the individuals involved and the person who spoke in the previously recorded file, all confirmed that the milk still had a short shelf life.

The school's Board of Directors also accepted responsibility for negligence and failure to check carefully, leading to the use of nearly expired milk for students to drink.

"Parents agreed and highly agreed with the responses and explanations of the school's Board of Directors as well as those involved. By the morning of October 23, parents were reassured to let their children return to school," said Mr. Thoai.

Ms. Trinh Thi Ha, Principal of Van Phu Kindergarten, explained that around April (2023-2024 school year), she saw that there were 48 boxes of unused fresh milk in her house, afraid that it would expire, so she brought it to school for the children to drink to avoid waste. She did not take any money from the children or the school for this milk.

Ms. Ha also shared that she had admitted her mistake to the parents in managing the school's canteen, and at the same time, felt sad that the above incident had happened.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nho Quan district added that the incident had been thoroughly resolved, and parents were reassured to send their children to school as usual. The authorities will clarify the motives and purposes of Ms. Trinh Thi Ha related to the above incident.
