On June 12, information from the People's Committee of Ha Long City said that the unit has just requested the Ha Long Bay Management Board to urgently deploy measures to overcome the consequences of environmental incidents in Ha Long Bay, mainly the foam buoys that are threatening the marine environment.
Styrofoam buoy drifted to Hon Gai beach
Specifically, according to a quick report from the Ha Long Bay Management Board, heavy rain lasting from June 7 to 9 caused flooding.
After the water receded, a large amount of garbage was brought to Ha Long Bay, and heavy rain also brought leaves from the rocky islands down to the sea.
Along with that, foam buoys from aquaculture areas next to Ha Long Bay, combined with leaves, have caused environmental incidents for this world natural heritage.
Immediately after the incident, the Ha Long Bay Management Board mobilized 50 people and 20 vehicles to collect floating trash on the sea.
In particular, the Ha Long Bay Management Board also coordinated with the Cat Ba Bay Management Board ( Hai Phong ) to collect garbage in the border areas. It is expected that by June 15, the environmental incident in Ha Long Bay will be resolved.
The area of the Quang Ninh Provincial Planning, Fair and Exhibition Center is also surrounded by foam inflatables.
The Ha Long Bay Management Board recommends that the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province direct the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and local authorities along the coast to strengthen local management, preventing the spread of foam buoys and waste to the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay.
As Thanh Nien reported, recently, Ha Long Bay continues to be threatened by waste; mainly styrofoam floating from the sea to the rocky islands, as well as many beaches in the area, causing environmental pollution. The Ha Long Bay Management Board said it will handle environmental incidents in Ha Long Bay related to plastic waste, mainly styrofoam floating that is threatening the marine environment.
