"Not only is the place where the ship carrying the destiny of the whole nation set sail, the Saigon River also carries many memories, dreams and aspirations of generations of Vietnamese people, where the first Vietnamese ships were launched, where the resounding ship battles on the river were recorded, where the reunion ships docked after decades of separation, where tens of thousands of tons of tunnel segments were towed to build a regional river tunnel connecting the two banks, where the ocean-going ships carrying international goods and tourists traveled back and forth, bringing Vietnamese brands to all five continents." - Mr. Phan Van Mai shared.
"The Legendary Ship" recreates the historical story of the Saigon River through the chapters: "Launching", "Arriving at the wharf", "Set sail", "Rising waves" and "Reaching far".
According to Mr. Phan Van Mai, the program is a tribute and deep gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the 113th anniversary of his departure to find a way to save the country; a remembrance and gratitude to generations of fathers and ancestors from the early days of reclaiming land, building, fighting for the independence, freedom, and unity of the nation and dedicating themselves to the happiness of the people.

The first Ho Chi Minh City River Festival in 2023 received a positive response from the people and tourists, attracting more than 210,000 visitors to the City during the Festival week and more than 60,000 visitors directly participating in the activities; revenue and service capacity of the accommodation system, tourist attractions and waterway services increased from 20 to 50% compared to normal.
By the end of May 2024, Ho Chi Minh City was listed as the best tourist destination in Asia according to statistics from the Agoda travel platform. In the first 5 months of 2024, international visitors to the city are estimated to reach more than 2.2 million, an increase of more than 32% over the same period in 2023, and domestic visitors reached 14 million, an increase of 1.6% over the same period in 2023.
