Opening of the second Ho Chi Minh City River Festival

Also attending the program were former Politburo members: former Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan; along with former leaders of the Party, State and leaders of Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Festival, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that following the initial results of the first Ho Chi Minh City River Festival, the second Ho Chi Minh City River Festival continues to be held to honor the beauty and value of heritage rivers, spreading pride and love for the city through a series of diverse and unique activities.

The festival is a harmonious combination of tradition and modernity, taking place simultaneously at many locations in the city from May 31 to June 9; aiming to build the festival into a long-term, large-scale annual event, bearing the unique mark of Ho Chi Minh City.

Coming to the festival, people and tourists can experience waterway tourism programs, attractive tourism and shopping stimulus programs; immerse themselves in the exciting atmosphere of the river swimming championship, stand-up paddleboard championship and water sports activities; experience the "On the wharf, under the boat" Fruit Week; the space "Recreating the Western floating market" at the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe inner-city wharf; the Southern Fruit Festival at Suoi Tien Tourist Area with river parade activities, culinary competitions, artistic lighting decorations, cultural spaces, performances, folk games, etc.

Not stopping at the activities of Ho Chi Minh City and in Ho Chi Minh City, the second Ho Chi Minh City River Festival this year also has the participation and response of the Southeast provinces and the Mekong Delta like the resonance of an orchestra to make the harmony of the Southern rivers stronger and more resonant.

After the opening ceremony, the art program "Legendary Train" opened the second Ho Chi Minh City River Festival in 2024. The program is a deep honor and gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the 113th anniversary of his departure to find a way to save the country, a remembrance and gratitude to the generations of fathers and ancestors from the early days of reclaiming, building, fighting for the independence, freedom, and unity of the nation and dedicating themselves to the happiness of the people.

“The Story River Season 2 - The Legendary Train” combines history, cinema, and entertainment to convey meaningful messages from the heroic historical story of the nation, bringing people pride in the nation's historical journey, the vision, intelligence, heroic spirit, and indomitability of the previous generation and the dynamism and creativity of today's generation.

Children come to play chess in the folk culture space in the Bach Dang Wharf area.

The program is a story about special ships that have come and gone on the Saigon River, historical ships associated with important milestones of the nation, the first Vietnamese ships launched, ships that set sail carrying the fate of the entire nation, resounding ship battles on the river, ships that reunited after decades of separation, ships that brought Vietnamese brands to all five continents... It is not only the story of the ships but also the journey of the entire nation, going down in history and becoming a legend.
