Department of Education and Training announced new points

On July 22, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will announce the additional enrollment quota for grade 10 in public high schools.

On the afternoon of July 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training provided instructions on additional enrollment for grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year at high schools that have not yet met their enrollment quota.

Some cases are considered according to the standard score of the first choice.

Accordingly, the condition for participating in the additional 10th grade recruitment is that students do not pass any of their wishes to public high schools and must have 10th grade exam scores in 3 subjects: math, literature, foreign language and priority points (if any) greater than or equal to the standard score of the 3rd wish of the public high school they want to register for admission.

Each student can only register for additional enrollment at a public high school that has not yet met its assigned enrollment quota and cannot change schools after submitting an application for additional enrollment.

For students who have studied at secondary schools in the districts of Can Gio, Nha Be, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi and Thu Duc City, if they register for schools in the same area as their secondary school, the total entrance exam score of the candidate will be considered according to the standard score of the first choice of the public high school they want to register for .

In particular, the Department of Education and Training also gave specific notes that Thu Duc City is divided into 3 areas, of which area 1 includes schools in the old District 2, area 2 includes schools in the old District 9 and area 3 includes schools in the old Thu Duc District.

An examination officer from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that this is a new point in the regulations on additional enrollment for grade 10 this year. The 2023-2024 school year, the first year that Ho Chi Minh City conducts additional enrollment for grade 10, applies general conditions to students across the city. However, in the second year, based on reality, the Department of Education and Training creates conditions for students who have studied at secondary schools in the areas of Can Gio, Nha Be, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi districts and Thu Duc City if they register for additional enrollment at high schools in the same area. Considering the first-choice score for the above areas creates opportunities for both students and schools that are still having difficulty enrolling students for grade 10.

After successful candidates complete their admission application, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will review and announce additional enrollment quotas.

Time to submit application for additional grade 10 admission

Students wishing to enroll additional students must submit their application directly to the high school, including the 10th grade entrance exam score report issued by the middle school and stamped with a red seal.

The supplementary grade 10 admission councils of the schools are responsible for receiving applications within the prescribed time, ensuring that candidates who meet the above conditions are accepted; based on the remaining enrollment quota and the exam results of the students, additional consideration is made from high to low until the quota is met.

According to the examination officer of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, after public secondary schools have completed receiving direct admission applications for grade 10 on July 20, the Department will review the quotas of each school based on that. On July 22, the Department will announce the list of schools implementing additional enrollment for grade 10 and the additional enrollment quotas of each school for parents to register, if needed.

High schools will receive applications for additional enrollment from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on July 27.

On August 6, schools announced the list of additional candidates admitted to grade 10 for the 2024-2025 school year.
