On March 4, Song Lam Nghe An Football Club (SLNA) sent a dispatch to Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), VFF and the Referee Board regarding the goal in the match against Nam Dinh Club in round 12 of V.League.

According to the assessment of the Nghe An team, the goal recognized by the main referee and the VAR referee team in the 90+5 minute left many controversies and negative public opinion about the Video Assistant Referee Technology currently applied in the V.League. SLNA requested to review the accuracy of this move.

Nam Dinh's controversial goal.

The document reads: " Song Lam Nghe An Club requests VFF, VPF and the Organizing Committee of Vietnam Professional Football Tournaments as well as the Referee Board to review and re-examine the offside or non-offside situation leading to the decisive goal of the match and respond in writing to Song Lam Nghe An Club for information."

Phu 90+5, striker Rafaelson Fernandes took a dangerous free kick but SLNA goalkeeper Van Viet successfully blocked it. After that, To Van Vu took advantage of the opportunity to score the only goal of the match. However, in that phase, player Van Vi of Nam Dinh may have been offside.

According to the referees' report, the image data did not provide the necessary angle to observe or draw the line to determine offside. Although there was an SLNA player behind the wall to block the low shot, this is not the basis to confirm that Van Vi was not offside.

The leader of the Nghe An football team proposed: " Song Lam Nghe An proposes to the tournament's Organizing Committee to take measures to improve the quality of recording, television as well as the quality of referees, the quality of VAR technology operation currently applied in V.League. From there, improve the quality of matches as well as national championships to serve fans nationwide ."

SLNA affirmed that it always respects the final decisions of the referees. In addition, the team hopes that VFF, VPF and the tournament organizing committee will pay more attention to the quality, accuracy and fairness of important decisions of the main referees and VAR in the current V.League.
