VHO – Responding to an interview with Van Hoa about information related to the retirement of the national gymnastics team athlete Pham Nhu Phuong, Head of High Performance Sports Department 1, Department of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), said that the Department of Sports and Physical Training immediately coordinated with the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation and the Hanoi National Sports Training Center to work with relevant departments, review and consider the case, and handle it according to regulations, if there is a violation.

“Immediately after the press reported on the sudden retirement of athlete Pham Nhu Phuong, we directed the Department of Physical Education and Sports to coordinate with the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation to work with the team’s coaching staff. Based on the review and work with relevant departments, we will report to the relevant authorities for disciplinary action, if there is any violation, in accordance with regulations and will inform the press agencies as soon as possible,” said Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh.

Pham Nhu Phuong is also a hot tiktoker on social networks.

Previously, a newspaper published an interview with this female athlete. According to the information, everything stemmed from her trip to the US to visit friends and relatives in December last year. After that, she received a heavy disciplinary penalty by being removed from the training list of the national gymnastics team in 2024 and was sent back to the management unit, the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center.

"The teachers said I violated discipline by going abroad without reporting to the Department of Physical Education and the Center's Board of Directors. In fact, I had sent a request and informed my two direct coaches about the trip. The teachers had agreed to approve my trip, so I went. But when I returned to Vietnam, I found out that I was disciplined," said Pham Nhu Phuong.
