On August 9, AVP reported that recent Russian attacks on the Poltava region (Ukraine), especially the Mirgorod airport, have caused serious destruction. Columns of smoke tens of meters high were recorded after precise strikes by Iskanders missiles.

According to preliminary data obtained by AVP, about five missiles were used in the latest attack. Mirgorod airport has been the target of attacks several times. This highlights its importance in Ukraine's military infrastructure.

The attacks on the Mirgorod airfield caused serious damage to the logistics and rapid mobility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Damage to runways and hangars, destroyed equipment and machinery - all this significantly reduced the combat effectiveness and efficiency of the Ukrainian army in this area. In addition, attacks on such important infrastructure put additional pressure on the Ukrainian leadership, requiring a redistribution of resources to restore the infrastructure.

The Iskander tactical ballistic missile system is a powerful weapon with high precision and destructive power of the Russian army. In military operations, Iskander missiles are used to attack important infrastructure and cause heavy damage to the enemy. The high mobility and stealth of Iskander make them an effective means to complete assigned tasks quickly and accurately.

In the case of the Poltava region and the Mirgorod airport, the use of Iskander missiles is aimed at weakening Ukraine's military capabilities and creating a strategic advantage for Russia.

Deploying a new wave of attacks

According to SF, on the evening of July 9, Russia carried out a wave of attacks targeting many different areas in Ukraine. A series of explosions were reported across Ukraine.

The first airstrikes were reported in the southern Odessa region. Large explosions were recorded in the city of Odessa. More Russian airstrikes were also reported in the port town of Ilyichevsk (Chernomorsk), one of the local logistics hubs used to transfer NATO weapons to other parts of Ukraine.

According to preliminary reports published by SF, Russian missiles targeted Ukrainian air defense system deployment sites. Local sources said the attacks were coordinated by Russian reconnaissance drones, which recorded the results of the attacks.

Later, Ukrainian media reported Russian airstrikes in the Poltava region. Smoke billowing from the city of Poltava was recorded by locals and posted on social media. Local authorities confirmed that an industrial facility had been destroyed. A large fire broke out at the facility.
