On July 1, 2024, Sa Phin Kindergarten (Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province) had its first clean water tank after many years of "thirst" and dependence on rainwater. This humane and practical project was achieved thanks to the joint efforts of the non-profit educational organization Seroto Foundation, parents in the "Teaching Children in Happiness" Group, and benefactors across the country.

The water tank is 3 meters high, with a capacity of 200 m3 , located in the campus of Sa Phin Commune Kindergarten. Construction of the water tank began after Tet 2024 and was completed in May 2024. In early July, representatives of the support unit and the People's Committee of Sa Phin Commune inaugurated the construction of the water tank and put it into use.

According to information from a representative of Sa Phin commune, Sa Phin is a poor border commune, located at an average altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level. The commune has complex terrain, strongly divided with steep slopes and rocky mountains accounting for more than 80% of the total natural area, making the lives of the people here still difficult, especially the prolonged lack of domestic water, depending on rainwater.

The entire Sa Phin commune has 11 villages with more than 600 households, all of whom are Mong ethnic people, of which 71% are poor households. Sa Phin commune kindergarten has nearly 300 children, the primary and secondary boarding school for ethnic minorities has more than 400 children, most of whom eat at school and are children of poor and near-poor households.
The lack of water directly affects the daily life of households and the maintenance of learning in boarding schools. The need for large rainwater tanks is more urgent than ever.
Teachers at Sa Phin Kindergarten said: "Sa Phin has no other water source than rainwater. Every year, for 4 to 6 months, the whole school struggles with water conservation because the amount of rainwater in the tanks is not enough. To get water, teachers and students at Sa Phin Kindergarten have to climb steep, rocky mountains every day, which are very difficult to get to, to get water."

Faced with the above difficulties, on March 30, 2023, Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Phin Commune Hau Mi Say wrote a letter calling on sponsors to join hands in supporting the construction of a water tank to serve the urgent needs of families in Thanh Ma Tung village and students of Sa Phin Commune Kindergarten.
Responding to this call, in June 2023, the non-profit educational organization Seroto Foundation called on members of the "Raising Children in Happiness" community to join hands to support and share difficulties with people in the highlands. By July 2024, the organization received nearly 300 million VND in funding.

Seroto Foundation and representatives of the Group "Teaching Children in Happiness" went directly to Sa Phin to learn and survey the support for building a water tank. The total amount of money that Seroto Foundation transferred to Sa Phin commune to build a water tank in two phases was 320 million VND, of which the amount of money from the "Teaching Children in Happiness" community supported 294.8 million VND. The remaining amount of more than 25 million VND was contributed by Seroto Foundation.
Sa Phin Kindergarten has a new water tank. In the coming days, many children will not have to miss school to fetch water from distant mountain streams to bring home for their families. The school and surrounding households will also have an additional source of shared water to get through the dry season.
In the thank you letter, Chairman of Hau Mi Say Commune People's Committee expressed deep gratitude to individuals and organizations for their support: "The contributions of individuals and organizations not only help improve people's lives but also create great motivation for the community in the work of hunger eradication and poverty reduction".
