Forget the banking tycoons, these "little peppercorns" have "100 dong capital, 50 dong profit"

“100 capital, 50 profit”

In the second trading week of 2024, banking stocks played the role of “support” for the VN-Index when they all increased sharply thanks to the massive cash flow. Some codes even set records in terms of market price and market capitalization. However, in terms of profitability, many “pepper babies” really shined.

Trading on UpCOM, CPA shares of Phuoc An Coffee Joint Stock Company have a very large amplitude. After only 3 consecutive ceiling price sessions, CPA increased by 2,100 VND/share, equivalent to 45.7%. It can be seen that CPA achieved super profits, 100 VND of capital earned nearly 50 VND of profit after only 5 trading sessions.

Notably, CPA accelerated when this stock had no supporting information.

This week, banking stocks are the focus of the stock market as they play the role of “pillars”. However, in terms of profitability, many “pepper babies” really shine. Illustrative photo

After 1 week of trading, DVW shares of Dong Nai Water Supply Services and Construction Joint Stock Company increased by 4,300 VND/share, equivalent to 40% to 15,100 VND/share. Notably, all of these achievements were made in a single session (January 9). In the remaining sessions, DVW did not have any transactions and closed at the reference price.

Having the same trading performance as DVW is DLD stock, Dak Lak Tourism Joint Stock Company. Closing the session on January 9, DLD hit the ceiling, increasing by VND2,100/share, equivalent to 38.9% to VND7,500/share. This is also the only session that DLD recorded price fluctuations. In the remaining sessions, DLD closed at yellow price.

The three stocks with the strongest growth this week are CPA, DVW and DLD. All three stocks are traded on UpCOM. In fourth place is a stock listed on HNX. That is KTT stock of KTT Investment Group Joint Stock Company. At the end of the week, KTT stopped at VND4,000/share after increasing by VND1,100/share, equivalent to 39.9%.

Last in the Top 5 stocks with the strongest increase this week is BRR of Ba Ria Rubber Joint Stock Company with an increase of VND 5,600/share, equivalent to 34.6% to VND 21,800/share.

Just increase for "fun", not many people benefit

It can be seen that with an increase of 34.6% to 45.7% after only 1 week, the Top 5 stocks that made the strongest breakthrough last week promise to bring huge profits to investors. However, in reality, very few people enjoy this result because the above codes only increase for "fun" due to extremely low liquidity.

Although KTT is the most active stock this week, its liquidity is quite modest, ranging from 6,200 units to 77,400 units per session. The value of shares that shareholders participating in the transaction receive per session is only 4.8 million VND to 23.2 million VND.

BRR's liquidity is even more modest than KTT. The average trading volume of the last 10 sessions of BRR is only... 1,720 units, accounting for only 0.002% of the total volume of outstanding shares.

Although it was the stock with the strongest increase in the week, after 3 sessions of ceiling price increase, the value of the stock that enjoyed that increase was only over... 4 million VND. Specifically, shareholders received profits of 360,600 VND (session 10/1), 94,500 VND (session 11/1) and 3.7 million VND (session 12/1).

The profit value of the remaining two codes, DVW and DLD, is even much lower, only enough to pay for a buffet.

With DVW, during the week, this stock only had transactions on one day (January 9) with a total trading volume at the minimum level: 100 shares, equivalent. That means the surplus value this code brings is only... 430,000 VND.

Similar to DVW is DLD. On January 9, the total additional transaction value of this code was only... 210,000 VND.

It can be seen that the stocks with the strongest growth momentum recently are mainly those with low capitalization, extremely low liquidity and do not receive attention from investors. These are stocks that are difficult to buy (because there are no sellers), and even more difficult to sell (because there are no buyers).

So, these are the codes that stock experts advise against trading.
