On October 16, 2024 in Vung Tau city, Murphy Cuu Long Bac Company (MCB) and PTSC Marine Mechanical Services Company Limited (PTSC M&C) solemnly held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Lac Da Vang - A central processing platform of the Lac Da Vang Project. The Ceremony was attended by senior leaders from Murphy Oil Corporation (USA); partners of the Project Block including PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), SK Earthon Company; representatives of the US Consulate, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, Vietnam Petroleum Technical Services Corporation ( PTSC ), MCB, PTSC M&C; and subcontractors and project boards of both Parties. The first development phase of the Lac Da Vang Project (Phase 1A) includes a central processing platform (Lac Da Vang - A), which processes crude oil to meet export standards, then transfers it to a tanker oil tanker (FSO) for storage through the infield pipeline system.

The groundbreaking ceremony is an important milestone for the Project, marking the construction phase of the Lac Da Vang – A Central Processing Platform. After completing the onshore construction, the Lac Da Vang – A Central Processing Platform is expected to be installed offshore in the third quarter of 2026, at Block 15-1/05 in the Cuu Long basin on the southeastern continental shelf of Vietnam, about 120 km east of Vung Tau City. PTSC M&C is the EPCIC General Contractor, responsible for the detailed design, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, connection and commissioning of the Lac Da Vang – A Central Processing Platform under the Contract signed with MCB on May 31, 2024. The Lac Da Vang – A Central Processing Platform includes a topside with two modules and a torch weighing a total of more than 6,000 tons, along with a jacket and piles weighing more than 4,500 tons.

Lac Da Vang is the first project that Murphy has developed in Vietnam, and is also the first cooperation project between Murphy and PTSC M&C. The EPCIC contract for Lac Da Vang – A project not only continues to affirm PTSC M&C's leading position in the field of general contracting services for offshore oil and gas projects in Vietnam, but also demonstrates PTSC M&C's ability to meet the strict technical requirements of international investors. Mr. Roger Jenkins, General Director of Murphy Oil Corporation, shared: "We are very excited to welcome today's event and are also very excited about the meaning that this event brings to the partnership with PetroVietnam Exploration and Production Corporation (PVEP) and SK Earthon in the goal of achieving first oil. We will continue to work closely with PTSC M&C to safely and effectively implement the project and successfully implement this important energy infrastructure project."

Mr. To Ngoc Tu, Director of PTSC M&C, said: “Today is a special day, marking an important starting point for the project. Lac Da Vang project is not only Murphy Oil's first project in Vietnam, but also the first cooperation project between Murphy Oil and PTSC M&C. For PTSC M&C, this project is also a new step forward in our goal of perfecting and developing the Design capacity for central technology platforms. This is not only important for the development of Vietnamese engineers but also demonstrates the determination of PTSC M&C's leadership in the strategy of perfecting the capacity of EPCI general contractor, contributing to enhancing PTSC M&C's competitiveness to reach out to the regional market.
