VnExpressVnExpress11/03/2024

11 police and military schools have announced their enrollment targets for 2024, many of which have increased their quotas, ranging from 20-91 compared to last year.

By early March, six police schools and five military schools had announced university enrollment targets.

Regarding the public security sector, the number of new recruits at the Fire Prevention and Fighting University and the People's Public Security University of Engineering and Logistics both increased by 40 compared to last year, to 140; the People's Security Academy increased by 20. Meanwhile, the People's Security University, the People's Police Academy and the People's Public Security Political Academy kept their quotas unchanged.

Police schools reserve 10% of their total enrollment quota for female candidates, similar to last year. Therefore, the increase in total enrollment quota means that the number of female candidates admitted to these schools will also increase.

Admission quotas for police schools in 2024 are as follows:

TT School Target
Male Female Total
1 People's Security Academy 369 41 410
2 People's Police Academy 477 53 530
3 Fire Prevention University 126 14 140
4 People's Public Security Academy 90 10 100
5 People's Security University 234 26 260
6 People's Public Security University of Engineering and Logistics 126 14 140

Police schools have not yet provided information on admission methods, but are expected to maintain three stable methods: direct admission, priority admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and regulations of the Ministry of Public Security ; admission based on candidates with international language certificates; and combined admission based on high school graduation exam scores with the Ministry of Public Security's competency assessment exam scores.

Last year, the benchmark scores for police schools ranged from 14.01 to 24.94. The Party Building and State Administration major at the People's Public Security Academy had the highest benchmark score. Female candidates in the North applying for this major must score 24.94 points.

The formula for calculating university admission scores of the Ministry of Public Security is as follows:

Admission score = Total score of three graduation exams *2/5 + Assessment score *3/5 + Priority points according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training + Bonus points for excellent students at the national level.

In the military school sector, apart from the Logistics Academy, which reduced its quota by 21, many schools increased. Of which, Army Officer School 2 increased the most - 91 quotas. Next was the Military Technical Academy - 82, the Engineering Officer School and the Information Officer School increased by 24 and 18 respectively. Officer schools do not recruit female students.

Military school targets in 2024:

TT School Target
Male Female Total
1 Military Technical Academy 516 24 540
2 Engineering Officer School 251 0 251
3 School of Information Officers 341 0 341
4 Army Officer School 2 532 0 532
5 Logistics Academy 174 4 178

This year, the military school sector has added two more admission methods, including considering the competency assessment test scores of two national universities and considering academic records, in addition to the old methods of direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, and admission of excellent students according to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense, based on high school graduation exam scores.

Regarding the assessment of competency test scores, schools reserve about 20% of the quota. Regarding the consideration of academic records, except for the Military Technical Academy and the Military Medical Academy, the remaining schools will reserve about 10% of the quota. Candidates need to have a total score of 7 or higher in each year of high school, and the subjects in the admission combination must have a minimum score of 7.5.

Currently, the military group consists of 17 schools. In 2023, these schools will enroll nearly 4,400 students. The benchmark score based on the graduation exam results ranges from 16.25 to 27.97. The Academy of Military Science has the highest benchmark score. Female candidates applying for the Chinese Language major must achieve a total score of 27.97 in three high school graduation exam subjects to be admitted. The lowest is the Engineering Officer School.
