This morning (June 8), candidates in Hanoi took the first exam - Literature - in the entrance exam for grade 10 of public high schools. Many parents were nervous, even tossing and turning all night, worried, hoping that their children would do well in Literature with the hope that their children would have a good start, "a smooth start and a smooth ending" in this important exam.
At the Dong Da Secondary School exam site (Dong Da District, Hanoi), many parents waited for their children to enter the exam site, feeling more nervous than their children.
Ms. Doan Minh Loan (Hoang Mai District, Hanoi) said: "Last night, I could not sleep for a long time. But it was very late, my daughter was still studying Literature. I urged her to go to bed, she said Literature has a lot of knowledge, she had to sit and read the works again. At 3:30 this morning, I woke up and thought about my children having to work hard and be tired for this exam. At 15 minutes to 6, I woke my children up to have breakfast, gave them some supplements to help them stay awake. Although our house is only a few kilometers from the exam school, my husband and I rode 2 motorbikes to take our children to school. I was worried that if the motorbike had a problem on the road, there would still be the other motorbike. My husband and I would wait outside the school gate until the bell rang to signal the start of the exam. I just hope that my children will be calm to do their best in the first exam, so that they will be in a good mood to complete the next exams", Ms. Minh Loan shared.

Taking her child to the exam, in addition to the things she brought into the exam room such as pens, pencils, erasers, and rulers like her friends, Ms. Nguyen Thu Uyen (Truong Chinh Street, Hanoi) also brought her child fever-reducing pills. Her child had a fever during an important exam, which made Ms. Uyen very worried.
"My child has a fever, which was caught from his classmates. While his classmates had been fever-free for the past few days, he only got sick on the day of the exam. Last night, I had to take him to the doctor to get a prescription. Today, I gave him fever-reducing medicine to take the exam, and I encouraged him to do as much as he could. Luckily, I had planned for a private school for him, so I wasn't too worried. I just felt sorry for him, who had tried hard to study all year but unfortunately got sick on the day of the exam," Ms. Uyen confided.

Outside the exam gate, even though they brought their children there early, many parents still waited until their children finished their exams before daring to go home. Having accompanied their children for a whole year of studying, all parents want is for their children to do well on the exam to achieve their wishes and dreams.

After the Literature exam in the morning, this afternoon (June 8), candidates will take the Foreign Language exam for 60 minutes, starting at 2:00 p.m. On the morning of June 9, candidates will take the Math exam for 120 minutes, starting at 8:00 a.m. June 10 is for candidates taking specialized exams.
* With nearly 110,000 students registering for the 10th grade exam, only 81,000 will be able to enter Hanoi public high schools this year.
Among the schools, Yen Hoa High School has the highest "competition ratio" of 1/3.11, meaning that on average, only 1 out of every 3 candidates passes the exam. Following are Le Quy Don High School - Ha Dong with a competition ratio of 1/2.9 and Tran Hung Dao High School - Ha Dong with a ratio of 1/2.55.
