According to Decision No. 1259/QD-BTTTT signed by Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, the Ministry of Information and Communications received and appointed Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, under the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, to hold the position of Deputy Director of the Press Department. The decision takes effect from July 15.

At the decision-giving ceremony, the new Deputy Director of the Press Department, Dang Thi Phuong Thao, shared that today is a very special day, marking a new milestone in the process of becoming a Youth Union officer and a journalist with the title of Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper for 14 years, and now Deputy Director of the Press Department.

According to Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao, journalism is currently a hot field, and the new task is also very difficult when having to advise on press management to ensure the correct principles, purposes, and guidelines of the Party and Government , contributing to the overall development of the country.

However, the new Deputy Director of the Press Department also believes that with their personal abilities, mettle, and the attention of the ministry's leaders, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung and Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam will continue to promote their abilities in the field of press management.

"I also think a lot about what I will do in my new position and what I will contribute to the Ministry of Information and Communications. With many years of experience in the field of journalism, I will advise the ministry's leaders with the highest integrity and spirit. I also commit that if I do not fulfill my duties, I will give way to someone else," Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao affirmed.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet said that the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Central Youth Union have cooperated a lot in recent years, and in 2022, signed a cooperation agreement with 41 coordinated activities at all levels. The connection between the two sides became even closer when the Ministry of Information and Communications accepted Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao, Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, to take up a new position at the Press Department.

"Ms. Phuong Thao is well-trained, has political courage, and a lot of experience in the field of journalism. She used to hold the position of Head of the Central Youth Union's Propaganda Department before being appointed as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper - a large newspaper with the largest readership in the country," said Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet.

Highly appreciating the capacity, experience and role that Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao has contributed to Thanh Nien Newspaper as well as the Central Youth Union over the years, Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet hopes that these experiences will continue to be promoted in the role of Deputy Director of the Press Department, as well as contribute more closely to the close relationship between the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Central Youth Union.

At the ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper Nguyen Ngoc Toan shared that when Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao took over the position at Thanh Nien Newspaper 14 years ago, the newspaper was also facing a very serious crisis.

"Ms. Phuong Thao has made great and creative contributions to the newspaper's activities in her position as Deputy Editor-in-Chief. I hope the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Press Department will create conditions for Ms. Phuong Thao to continue fulfilling her duties in her new position," journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan suggested.

Talking about the close relationship with the new Deputy Director of the Press Department as well as the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Director of the Press Department Luu Dinh Phuc assessed that the Youth Union officials are good and core factors in various fields of work. The press field currently has many new and difficult tasks.

"Although the Press Department has 3 deputy directors, it feels like there are not enough people to do the job, so we are very happy to welcome another person with extensive experience so that the department will be stronger, leading the Press Department to more achievements in the coming time. In the near future, the department will receive the Second Class Labor Medal and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the department; with 78 years of experience, inheriting the past to welcome a bright future," said Mr. Phuc.

On the same day, the Ministry of Information and Communications also announced the decision to temporarily transfer and appoint Ms. Le Huong Giang, Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Information (Ministry of Information and Communications), to hold the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel (Ministry of Information and Communications). The decision takes effect from July 16.

At the decision-giving ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam congratulated Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao and Ms. Le Huong Giang on receiving their new assignments.

"For nearly 10 years, the Central Youth Union has contributed 3 officials to the Ministry of Information and Communications. I hope that the relationship between the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Central Youth Union will become increasingly close with officials who understand both the Ministry and the Youth Union," Deputy Minister Lam shared and expressed his belief that the Press Department has enough "field" and space for Ms. Phuong Thao to continue to promote and develop her abilities, from the position of a journalist to the position of press manager, with policies advising on press, including press economics.

According to Deputy Minister Lam, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Information and Communications has also agreed on the policy of inviting experienced people in the field to work in press management to better communicate policies.

"The Press Department will have a completely new function of supporting policy communication. It is expected that this is also the area in which the new Deputy Director Dang Thi Phuong Thao will contribute more in the coming time," Mr. Lam expected.
